barjack Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Because the nif plugin of 3dsmax causes distortion for some meshes,i usually export my model into obj file then use nifskope to import those obj files. But now, even nifskope has some problems.the file below is part of triagle shaped mesh, nothing particular.i've checked there is no double faces.it's just a part of normal hair. look the UV assignment in max in the picture below,it's ok,,nothing special,,no overlapping or anything strange,,then i export it to obj file,,when i open nifskope(latest version) and import it,the UV had been changed, you can check it yourself,,please help me find the solution,,i'm going to test other earlier build of nifskope. EDIT: Earlier version of nifskope has the same issue. hair1_back_obj.7z hair1_back_nif.7z
barjack Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 I found the answer,,it's Autodesk making their own new obj standard. I compare the old obj and new(max2012 or above),they're a bit different,,so here is my solution. after modeling in 3dsmax,export the model into obj,3ds,fbx other older software can read,,like blender2.49 . use those older software to export obj model you want import into nifskope. or,,you can try to use older obj export plugin of 3dsmax.Avoid using default obj exporter,it has high chance to destroy your UV .
