SIMS4 Broken after last update?

Hey folks, having a problem getting SIMS4 to actually allow a selection of a character AND play.  I get all of the way into the character selection process and then it goes to the world selection area.  I select it again and it acts like it's going to let me in and then goes back to the world selection area again.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Go through and remove all your script mods, and see if you can load into a household. If you can, then slowly add back your script mods one at a time while loading into that same household. Repeat this process until the game kicks you out into the world selection screen again. That'll tell you which of your script mods is causing the crash. It's a tedious process, but that was how I was able to fix my game. Best of luck!

Had the same problem, deleted every mod and put only those with newest updates back in the folder.. worked again.

New bug out (seemingly). Everything is updated but now the game won't even launch. Keep getting "Fail to launch. Problem on our end" message from EA.  So now can't even get into game to see if any of my mods or CC is at fault. Mind you, I had to completely redo my mods folder after the last big fuck-up from EA and my entire mods folder was deleted. What do I do know? I've cleared the cache, repaired the game, uninstalled and re -installed, allowed it through my firewall - what's left to do?

Check if you are not using onedrive...?

Already cleared that. That mongrel program caused my whole mods folder to be deleted after the previous bug-loaded update. No-one drive, nothing linked to one drive.

Just went and checked for one drive again - even though it's been deleted from my computer. Here's the thing - even though one drive is not on my computer, anything that I download still comes through onedrive (yes, I have a Windows 11 computer - HP actually). So I can't really escape it. Does this now mean that I'm permanently screwed because EA and microsoft won't play friendly with each other?

Honestly, this phenomenon seems strange. I accidentally started OneDrive when I installed this PC, and I have OneDrive in the file structure. But it's running without any problems. There's a Documents folder, right? Did I change the installation location or something?

No Idea. All I know is that with the previous patch and its issues I checked for onedrive files (even though the program had been removed from my computer) and then deleted them. But, as seems to be the case, not only was my entire mods folder erased but everything else on my computer associated with one drive - including my excel files cataloguing my various collections. I'm just glad I hadn't transferred my fiction over to this new computer otherwise that might have gone also.

 

But this seems to be only affecting mods and cc. The game is completely separate. It is odd.

I think I reinstalled it, so I just wanted to confirm, but is there a SIMS4 folder in your documents folder that manages mods and save data?

Just looked in my computer again. Whole mods folder gone - yet again!!!!!

And when I look up sims 4 - just about everything is onedrive. Ditto for mods.

I think you haven't completely deleted OneDrive yet (not the OneDrive folder, but the OneDrive itself).
If My Documents in OneDrive is a local folder (like mine is), you'll be fine, so you'll need to make that Documents folder local.

Nah, It's gone from the apps completely. So non-existent. Little update though. Thought I'd give sims a go vanilla- style. No-go. Same deal. So it's not mods and it's not onedrive. EA has fucked up big time.

 

edit: doing a repair now. But not holding out any hope. Only other thing I can think of - but I think it's highly unlikely - is that EA has banned me outright because of a beef I've had with one of their forum moderators. However, I can still access the app, so I don't think that's it - probably me just being a tad bit paranoid. lol

We can start the game and play it, so rather than yelling at EA, we should first question our own environment.

I don't need to do this, but I don't understand why putting files in a folder causes them to disappear.

This definitely seems like it is an EA thing as other people on other forums are experiencing it. Guess i'll have to wait for another patch to drop and hope it fixes it. all of the mods are up to date.

 

Edit: Just finished 50/50 elimination - still not working. Definitely on the EA side of things.

Yeah, Files and folder are still there.  But still a no-go on sims 4 playing.

There's this too, right? I don't know if I'm downloading a pirated copy or if it's not EA+, but I was able to download it successfully on my new PC.
