Pregnancy test not appearing unless sim is pregnant

So no matter what i try, when i click on a toilet the pregnancy test option doesnt appear...sometimes it does when the sim is actually pregnant but other times i had to find out through the mccc
The mccc catches an 'error' at the beginning of the game but i have no idea how to figure out what it means
I tried both versions of mccc (latest and the one before) but problem is still there

is anyone else getting this problem?
