Skyrimfloo Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Hey there! I open this thread because lately I've been suffering a download spree that has left my game with a very severe case of overstuffed forge lists. I don't really care about using codes to get the outfits, since I prefer to use vanilla armors for "legit" gameplay and simply pop a custom armor occasionally when I feel like it, but it has gotten to very annoying levels when I try to play normally. I gotta scroll for half an hour to find a stupid vanilla armor, buried in between all those TERA armors and Bandolier bags. To solve this, I was thinking that the best thing to do would be to take them and try to strip them of any addition except the outfits themselves, eliminating any entry to the forge or any random container full of skimpy lore-unfriendly outfits, or maybe adding them all to a single, extra category so that the rest are happy and clean. Unfortunately, all my attemps at doing this have ended with CTDs-at-startup, maybe a couple times I did make it to the savegame's loading screen. So I though that maybe asking here would save me some time. Any help, ideas, suggestions? Thanks!
Guest Ragna_Rok Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 well, dear noob, you work on the wrong thing. heres what you have to do. open ck with all mods marked that you want to work on, and look for the branch "crafting". there you simply delete all entries starting with "recipe" that you dont want to have in your crafting menu. leave the temper stuff as it is. voila, done, the stuff is in game, you can get it by console if you must, and your crafting is cleaned up custom style, still tempering gear works. finally you save your changes to a new esp that you name as you want (whatever .. uhm... "floos-craft-cleaning"). then you simply activate your custom mini-mod like all the other stuff you run, finished. like this post when it helped you, we troubleshooters can always use a thanks (ps: i know it works like that, i made over 100 weapons )
Guest corespore Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Ragnas right. If you remove the crafting recipes for the armors in question but leave everything else in place the armors will still be there but you won't have them cluttering up your crafting menus. Be sure to mark the files in question as active files when you load them and it shouldn't be too difficult to find the armors in question because they will have those little astris marks next to the count number just right of the editor ID in your Object Window. You will need to either console command to get the armors after that or you could just remove the crafting recipes for just the armors you don't use and keep the ones you do like to wear. Remember to move the new .esp file you create after the armor mod your changing or you will end up getting CTD's. Hopefully that all makes sense, good luck on your modding
Skyrimfloo Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Thank you for your answers. How would that work for mods that add custom containers into the game? For example this one that adds a barrel full of clothes in Breezehome.
Guest corespore Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 If the barrel has a custom name such as "mega-barrel-o-clothes" you could type the name into the object window then select the "all" option in the object window then just delete it when it pops up, then save as usual. If the container doesn't have a custom name you should be able to find it in the cell view window. So for example if the barrel is in Breezehome just type that name into the cell view window, click on the object (in the render window), and when it shows up in the items list in the cell views editor ID, delete it then (don't forget to save).
Skyrimfloo Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Ok, I'm kinda getting the idea. Thanks!
Skyrimfloo Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 It does. Thanks! I managed to pull off all the outfits from the lists. I have some things left that I didn't want to touch, like that remodelled standalone skimpy armor set for bodyslide that lets you turn outfits in skimpy variations in the tanning rack, I wasn't sure what to delete. But since those only pop when you have the requirements, all is fine and good. Some outfis had more stuff inside, and I'm not sure I deleted all I needed to, but time will tell. I got a couple CTDs on loading because I had been disabling mods to check a glitch as well, but I think now it works fine.
