Getting started with CK3

So, I know how to install mods -- its easy, just like in Sims. But what about the mods themselves? What should be the base? How to define load order? What mods are must-have and which are bug-nightmares? 
I've tried to install some mods myself. After half an hour of troubleshooting, I got my FPS reduced to bare 15 with ocassional glitches, bugs and CTDs. Is there any, like, Loverslab manual for mods? Or do I have to just try everything until something works? Thanks in advance.

Carnalitas is the framework that almost everything uses so you need that.

From there you can either choose between CBO Unofficial and the mods that rely on it or Phaze Body and the mods that support it.

The phaze body thread has a few example load orders that show a lot of compatible mods.

Generally you load Carnalitas first, then either CBO or Phaze Body and then the other LL mods.
