Female NPCs With Neck Gap When Nude

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

As the title says female npcs have neck gaps the funny thing is that female khajiits don't. This is a custom body mesh that I did.

It's only visible when they are nude. There is no wrist of ankle gap. My argonian character is not affected.

Here's the custom 3BA mesh that I did. You can test it in game just build it. CBBE 3BA Bimbo Body.rar

Only 2 reasons for gaps:

  1. The hands/feet was built in BS with a different set of morphs applied than the body was.
  2. The hands/feet/head is incompatible with the body.

#1 for instance is an issue in 3BAv2, as it does not come with 1st person BS projects for hands. If you change the wrist thickness, there will be a gap. This may have been fixed in more recent versions of the mod.

So:

  1. Install More Informative Console.
  2. Start the game, load a save with your character showing the neck gap.
  3. Open the console.
  4. "prid 14"
  5. Use MIC to get the form id of your character's race.
  6. Open xEdit, don't change the load order.
  7. Locate the RACE record.
  8. Make a note of the mods changing it.
  9. Locate the associated female HDPT (Head Part) records.
  10. Find the one that contains the head mesh, i.e. not the mouth, eyes, brows or hair. Note down the nif file it references.
  11. Make sure this head is compatible with the mod that provides the body BS project you used.

Edit: Also since you may have a mod that's doing a body swap incorrectly, you may want to insert the following between steps 4 and 5:

  1. "inv"
  2. Make a list of all items marked as worn.
  3. "unequipall"
  4. Close the console, and check if the neck gap went away. If it did, the issue is in one of the items in the list you just made.

OK, I got the issue down. Turns out that 3BA body has a hidden morph called "Neck Seam" and that actually needs to be present always. So, I added it to my custom body and just like that it's now fixed for all kinds of weights.

You can see this morph in action in bodyside when you move the weight slider. It only affects the neck.
