OSA tutorial

without the brillant fallout 4 tutorial posted here by the community, I would never have been able to use the mods here

looking for a similar tutorial for CEO's OSA

CEO's site has a list of requirements which I have filled but zero installation explanation, and the mod is far from being plug and play

I was able to navigate the OSA menu but when I pick 2 npc and an animation, the npcs just stand and do nothing

I assume the animations need to be generated but CEO's anim packs do not appear in FNIS

clearly there are files that do not go automatically to the right folder when installed with a mod manager

besides I'd rather use Nemesis since I already installed it to generate combat anim

would appreciate detailed steps to go through this

I finally got the mods to work so I'll share the tutorial.

First, don't use OSA, use OStim instead. OStim is like OSA but better.

unlike OSA, OStim page has detailed installation and troubleshooting guides

furthermore OStim page has links to gazillions of tasteful anim packs that are easy to install

if you follow the guides on the OStim page you should be mostly good

I have encountered only 3 problems I had to figure out on my own

#1

don't use the pandora engine as suggested by the mod page, use the nemesis engine instead

pandora is unstable and will 99% fail and mess up your install

nemesis may be older but it is the fail-proof, tried and true animation engine

#2

when I have installed anim packs they were hidden by default (no idea why)

for the anim packs to show up go data/nemesis/mod and find the anim packs folders

(check the mod archive file to get the folder name)

there is an ini file in each folder, edit it and switch hidden=true to hidden=false

they will now show up in the nemesis engine, check them and generate the animations

#3

once in game, opening the OStim menu is not obvious

you have to point your crosshair to a NPC and press UP arrow on your keyboard

that's it, you should be able to figure out everything else
