Gudulba Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 I use the latest CK and the addons available on Nexus on 1.5.97. In the past with my limited editing expericene, when editing an exterior or interior cell in CK, the terrain or cell looked more or less the same in the CK editor window and in the game itself. Now I am trying to solve some mountain terrain clipping issue introduced by the quest/follower mod Mirai (not available on Nexus anymore). The affected exterior cell is -9. -1. In the game, the terrain looks more or less normal with some clipping and seeing-through issues (see screenshot below). When opening this cell with the mod Mirai set to active, the terrain looks quite weird with a couple of floating snow patches or something like that instead of the expected mountain terrain. Which makes it impossible to edit the terrain... Why does CK show a different terrain in CK than in the game?? Spoiler
traison Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 Because you have another plugin which changes a rock record to point to another mesh, and this plugin is not loaded in the CK.
Gudulba Posted May 30, 2025 Author Posted May 30, 2025 Ah, sounds reasonable. How do I find out which plugin it is? - In More Informative Console, I can't select anything regarding the mountain terrain. - I have tried to load all plugins in CK, which are listed for this cell in SSEEdit or Modmapper.com, but it didn't change anything Maybe Majestic Mountain or DynDOLOD-related plugins?
traison Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 (edited) I would use the CK since it makes it more obvious which object is selected. Select the part of the terrain that is wrong. The object will give you the form id, reference id if applicable, and the mesh file name. After this you can inspect the form and reference ids in xEdit, and the mesh file in your mod manager. Any changes to these would be suspicious. Edit: Also there's other reasons why rocks could be different. For example: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/60805 And isn't there one that works a bit like OAR/DAR but for static meshes? Edited May 30, 2025 by traison
Gudulba Posted May 31, 2025 Author Posted May 31, 2025 Thank you! Once again, you have pointed me into the right direction! I loaded all Majestic Mountain and Landscape plugins together with the Mirai mod. All the mountain elements showed up and I could clean up the terrain issues 🙂
