Recently I've found this interesting mod, called BodyChange: a Multi-Bodyshape System, which seems like an awesome thing to have since there's so many outfits for different body types that never get remodelled for others. This mod wasn't compatible with elven and beast races, but a post in the mod's comments explained how to clean the mod and include elves to it. I also found this thread here talking about it, concerning problems with custom races and stuff like that, but since the thread is rather old, I though it'd be better to start a new one rather than necro' it, to discuss stuff about it and to keep it present for anybody who might be interested on it, since it doesn't have much publicity (I had to dig it out of a japanese blog). First, I'm wondering if there's any alternative to this mod that does the job better. I know there's a mod that adds a body-change spell but I didn't find it as useful as this one. In the other hand, it seems a bit abandoned and bugged, and even after being able to modify it for my elf character, I'm not entirely happy with it. I've been using this mod for just some hours, and while it's very cool, I've noticed that I'm unable to get the other bodies' faces to look like the default one. I use XCE and Ethereal Elven Overhaul, and I suppose that they don't apply properly to the extra bodies, that or maybe the fact that they use a "femalehead.nif" that I couldn't find in the other files pertaining to my original head. I'm not sure if this file is inside, for example, Skyrim-Meshes.bsa, nor if changing it would do anything, but I guess I could try later. Anyways, since heads aren't included in body mods, I though that it would have been easier just to make it so it doesn't replace it, and just replace the body, legs and hands, even though this would mean that you would need similar textures for all bodies (personally, I want this mod simply to make my character wear more outfits, I would prefer her looking the same anyways, except for the necessary body changes). So, thoughts on the matter? Better options? I hope people gets to know this mod a bit more, because I think it's really awesome.
romualda5 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 For me it is the best mod to use other bodies. I have custom face (nume with ears) and SG textures for body. I copy my face nif to all custom folder. SG textures CBBE and UNP. I download LB body, ADEC, Fairy Litheria, Dream girl etc. All they almost match. I'm happy with this work .

I'm thinking about trying to extract the default head from the Skyrim files and try it out, but I don't know if the mod can apply the XCE and EEO fixes, for all I know the head in this mods might even be the very same. [EDIT] Nope. I've tried doing that and the face is the same as before, in fact it has now an ugly seam in the neck. The problem appears to be that the mod is not applying tha race's facial structure to the basic shape, which I think it means that if you leave a vanilla face, no matter what's your race you will always have the same face with the mods. That's a bit dissapointing, honestly. I think that this mod shouldn't need to change the face. As far as I understood when modifying the files to enable elves, this mod simply tells the game to "equip" a different body mesh and texture as default. I'm sure it should be possible to make it change the body and leave the head alone, and simply maybe link a different texture to it in the same way that it links it to any outfit you try on after switching bodies.

So, as I read this, this mod also allows to change bodies, only that you use a spell instead of a MCM menu, and also adds some extra functions like different bodies for each race. I like it, although all I care is about being able to change the body so I can wear any armor I want without the texture going wrong. I'll test this, and since it probably works better than the other one with elves, I'll probably switch to this one. Thanks! [EDIT] Wow, this one is so freaking awesome. Now I regret wasting the morning fixing the other mod, specially after looking for other options. Apparently my Google-Fu is really rusty... Anyways, it's more than I could have asked for. I'm a bit overwhelmed by so many body types, and then there's space for even more, so now my only concern is going to be to update all of them regularly and find some nice outfits to try them on. It looks really promising, since it's been updated recently and the future plans sound pretty cool: automatic body switch on outfit change, MCM menu, etc. Also, the best part is precisely what I was talking about before: it leaves the head alone except for the textures, so any other mod works. And apparently it supports custom races, which I don't really care much about, but I read many comments in the BodyChange mod thread talking about that. I suppose it's difficult to think of an even better option (personally, simplicity is what I'm looking for, I'd be happy with a mod that was able to replace the body texture for outfits on equip), but anyways, let's keep the discussion up. I'm surprised that these type of mods aren't more popular. Thank you very much!
