KyleKatarn1980 Posted April 16, 2025 Posted April 16, 2025 Ok so I was just modifying the face skin of this Kazuya Mishima Costume Mod which is for Dead or Alive 5. I mainly use Adobe Photoshop CS6 and paint.net, what I did is removed the scar off of Kazuya's face and then I saved over the PNG to a DDS file. I then swapped over the Face Texture to the one I modified with the TMC Texture Tool. And when I boot up my Dead or Alive 5 game on Steam and looked at the Costume Mod that I modified, I wasn't surprised to see the face of the mod being darkened. What tool would I be using to make the skin texture look how the original Costume Mod's texture like it? https://imgur.com/K9yFlkh
cantaimboyzes Posted June 3, 2025 Posted June 3, 2025 (edited) try exporting your texture in dxt5. I have certainly seen this before while i was trying to edit a mod myself but i forget what caused it. if possible try GIMP (open source image editing software) and export in dxt5. If that doesn't work, try dxt3 (which is very unlikely, since most of the textures in TMCL are dxt5) Also, if you have the original mod, just extract the face textures from that mod using texture tool or LR photo studio, open it in GIMP and edit however you want and export it as dxt5. You never have to convert it into png since the alpha textures different in TMCL. This is most likely being caused by multiple aplha channels, (one from the png and the other one that is already applied). (there are four/three texture files for the same mesh in tmc generally) Edited June 3, 2025 by cantaimboyzes
