So apparently killing the animated sabercat fix this issue.  Both crashes occurred just inside the cave (i think it was lost knife hideout?) just when I encountered the two bandits talking.  Later in that cave I animated several bandits and another sabercat, but it didn't trigger a CTD.  Maybe somehting about the lighting in that spot in the beginning of the dungeon?

From your description it seems everything is fine, you found the fix and didn't get it to CTD again. Is this a PSA, or did you mean to say something else?

Was caused by a null pointer in a AI package used by reference id 0xFF000970 form id 0x000855D6 "Sabre Cat" in form id 0x00015251 "Lost Knife Cave". The package used was most likely form id 0xB800742A from "nwsFollowerFramework.esp".

Was caused by pathing most likely. Reference id 0xFF0011EF form id 0x000855D6 "Sabre Cat" is having issues navigating in form id 0x00015251 "Lost Knife Cave". This cell was last modified by the following mods:

  • Navigator-NavFixes.esl
  • 3DNPC.esp
  • RelightingSkyrim_SSE.esp
  • Shadows.esp
  • Ambiance.esp
  • SkyrimsUniqueTreasures.esp

From which Navigator-NavFixes and 3DNPC would be my first suspects.

I'm trying to understand the cause in case it's indicative of a larger problem.  Given that you brought up Follower Framework, it's seems to me that there once an issue with NFF and animated undead. I'll look and see if I can change NFF settings to not manage animated critters.  The info you responded with was pretty much what I was looking for.  Thanks.
