Need Help with Physics in Joy of Perspective [Solved]

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello everyone. I'm trying to get 3BBB physics to work in Joy of Perspective. I've seen videos with them working so I know it's possible, but I'm not experienced enough to know how to sort things, and most tutorials I can find seem to assume it's the perspective part that's the issue. I do imagine it's the load order. All I usually do is take VMMs recommendations on mod conflicts. I do have physics working outside JoP, so I know the skeleton and actual physics mods are working just fine.

Oh. I didn't know JoP was outdated. I'll link to the video I found below that suggested JoP could use physics, but maybe I misunderstood. I won't lie, all I have to go on is the visuals since I didn't understand the language.

When using Improved Camera, I get an error message on startup that says the DLL plugin has failed to load properly. Am I maybe doing something wrong with the installation?

The video you put , is from Skyrim LE, so if you used that link, it's the probable cause of why it doesn't work

Try reinstalling it, and start a new game

Wrong version for your game and/or skse version.

Maybe, but there's also the minor detail of whether or not SMP and/or CBPC support the 1st person skeleton. I remember trying to code this into one of them in the past, so I know at least one of them didn't use to support it. What the situation is these days I do not know, I have custom builds of both of these so I've fallen off the wagon in some regards.

Posted (edited)

Unfortunately the alternative versions of JoP seem to behave the same way. With Improved Camera, the specific message that comes up is a dialogue box before the game boots from SKSE Plugin Loader (2.2.6). It reads as follows.

-----

A DLL plugin has failed to load correctly. If a new version of Skyrim was just released, the plugin needs to be updated. Please check the mod's webpage for updates.

ImprovedCameraSE.dll: reported as incompatible during load

Continuing to load may result in lost save data or other undesired behavior. Exit game? (yes highly suggested)

-----

When forcing the game to  open anyway, nothing seems to be broken. It's just that the first person view doesn't show the body.

I have to leave for the evening, so I won't be able to reply, but I do appreciate the help.

Edit: I didn't catch the post from traison before I posted. I'll look into the SKSE version when I get back home.

I hope a double post like this is acceptable. I didn't see anything against it in the general rules. So, looking into it, I'm fairly certain I have the latest version of both AE and SKSE. That is, 1.6.1170, unless I misunderstand and that's not the latest. Improved Camera seems to be on version 1.1.1. Does this mean there's nothing to be done about it until Improved Camera is updated?

1.6.1170 is supported, unless it is pirated or otherwise modified.

Posted (edited)

I have a legitimate copy, so that's not it. Maybe my version of AE isn't as up to date as I thought it was. The last notification on the steam page does actually say 1.6.640 now that I look at it (I admittedly never bothered to scroll down.) but that's from 2022. May I ask how I'd go about updating a steam copy of AE?

Edit: To clarify I do have automatic updates on steam turned on. So I don't know why it seems to be out of date.

It is irrelevant what Steam says, what the receipt said and what you purchased or didn't purchase. The only thing that matters is the version number of the SkyrimSE.exe file.

Verify local game files using Steam and it'll force-install the latest manifest. Consider the following before you do:

  1. If you've cleaned the vanilla master files, this will be undone i.e. DynDOLOD3 might have issues.
  2. If you have another version of your game than you think you have (i.e. not latest Steam version (1170)) then this will break SKSE and with it all mods containing a dll.
Posted (edited)

Hrm. Still get the same error. I've checked the properties of the exe file and it is 1.6.1170, so that narrows it down to the mod download perhaps? I got what I thought was the latest version of improved camera from Nexusmods. I'll link the page. Or maybe do I have some other mod that Improved Camera might be dependent on that's on an older version? All I can see is address library and it says 1.6.X there. I've also redownloaded SKSE. The latest version for AE they have on that front page.

Edit: I also want to say thanks for the continued help, and for being patient with me.

I have versionlib-1-6-1170.bin

I did notice there's no plugin for improved camera in the plugin list. It is in the mod list, but not the plugin list for some reason. Could that be what's behind it? Or maybe the load order is bad?

Edit: Actually, I have a list of versionlib. Ranging all the way from 1-6-317 to 1-6-1179. Maybe... some older mods added a bunch of variants and confused it?

Because it doesn't have a plugin.

The AIO installer of Address Library probably adds them all.

I'm actually having trouble finding that. I assume it's in the same folder as the versionlib files?

Log files are almost always in "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\SKSE". Copy that path as-is into any explorer window to go directly to it.

Reinstalled skse64 as mentioned above in the video.

Additionally, Found the log. I'm not sure what I need to be looking for. It does have a mention of improved camera in there.

"reported as incompatible during load" comes from SKSE, PluginManager.cpp if plugin->load(skse) returns false. plugin is a reference to a LoadedPlugin. LoadedPlugin is a struct, where load is of type _SKSEPlugin_Load. _SKSEPlugin_Load is a typedef, defined in PluginAPI.h.

The SKSEPlugin_Load implementation in Improved Camera will return the result of DLLMain::Plugin::Get()->Load(). Plugin::Load is defined in plugin.cpp. It will log errors to a log file, if there are any. If CheckSkyrim() fails, it will return false. CheckSkyrim() does a lot of things:

  1. It compares file major, minor, revision and build versions to minimum and maximum allowed values.
  2. It requires that the ProductName field of skse64_loader.exe is not empty.
  3. It compares the ProductVersion field of skse64_loader.exe to minimum allowed values.

Most importantly however, all branches that would return false, will also log something before they do.

Thus, the answer to your question is in the log file written by Improved Camera: ImprovedCameraSE.log

Aha! I think I understand. I'm reading ImprovedCameraSE v1.1.1.4228 in the ImprovedCameraSE.log, which, if I understand correctly, means it's several versions of Skyrim SE/AE behind.

It also says that, on today's date, it failed to load, and then it gives the directory to where the mod is installed.

So, if I understand what the problem is here correctly, the question becomes, is there a better place to download the latest version of Improved Camera?

Edit: Oh wait. Looking through it again, I think I did misunderstand. That's not a reference to the version of skyrim, but rather a reference to the version of the mod, which may not have anything to do with which version of Skyrim is there.

There is a file named ImprovedCameraSE.ini in the location above though, and I used VMM which, if I understand from the listed installation instructions correctly, is an acceptable way to install. I redownloaded the archive and installed it manually to be sure, but I still get the same issue.

Perhaps I should turn the current skyrim into a backup. Redownload, and see if just manually installing improved cameras alone (alongside its dependencies) will give the same result. Maybe there's some conflict that VMM didn't find?

Edit: Actually, the log changed after the last time I tried. Now it reads

Oh my gosh. I solved the problem. For anyone else struggling as I was. I'd been told by another to change the name of skse64_loader.exe to SkyrimSELauncher, while changing the original Launcher to SkyrimSELauncherOriginal, so that skse could launch from steam.

I apologize Traison. You did mention something about the name earlier, but I misunderstood it as saying the name just couldn't be blank. I'm just a perpetual n00b at this stuff it seems. Thank you so much for your help and patience once again.

are you all saying it's normal for physics to work with the joy of perspective in special edition? i'm switched to improved camera just for this but it's giving me other problems (the arms are so high they cover the crosshair when using a bow and moving the camera higher doesn't fix it).

what physics are you using? CBPC or SMP? or do you need faster HDT-SMP?
