Deleting .package files

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, if I didn't like something, it wasn't regularly removed, which left my game a bit cluttered. Can these files be deleted from a game or special program? Unfortunately, the entrance to the mod folder by the names alone is not known when it comes to the head or clothes that can be worn. I want to be able to see what will be deleted.

Safely removing packages is complicated.

If you want to remove all of your mods, then as long as you have not installed Kinky World, you can safely remove the entire contents of the "Mods" folder located in "Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3".

It is not always safe to just remove some random .package file from that directory. Some .package files are mods that might require other .package files to work, and if you remove a .package file that is required by another, your game might crash when you launch it. Most .package files do not have this issue.

It is safe to move .package files outside of their location with the Mods folder. Move one or more packages to another location and start your game. If it works, you are fine to continue. If it crashes, just put the files back.

For clothing, it is safe to remove them. If any sim is wearing that item, the game will detect that it is missing and will assign them another outfit.

If you installed your package files by just putting them into the Mods folder (or a folder inside Mods), then there is no special program to help you manage them. The only way to manage them is to move the files outside of the Mods folder.

There are some programs that can manage packages, but they work by putting the mods files into their own folders, and then compacting all of them into a smaller format. I do not know of any that manage package files that you manually installed.
