Jayce Dimmer Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 With the advent of Body Studio and having finally gotten the Skyrim importer for 3DS Max working thanks to a benevolent user of LL, I'd like to go ahead and convert some of the awesome armour mods made for Oblivion. However, I've not the foggiest idea how to do this. Could someone point me in the direction of a concise guide on how this is done? I've googled around, but there are tutorials that take more than an hour to get through. Which is just awful; I was informed in how to get Skyrim nif files into 3DS Max in only a single paragraph, whereas there are many youtube videos that take fourty minutes to do the same. Or maybe someone would even be willing to teamviewer or some such? Thanks in advance.
Duoleb The Chosen Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 i tried to Re-convert Without success MPW's Amazon Armor since the original conversion was Utter Fucking Double Revelations2012 Broken i saw some videos on YT showing how to convert but it was useless
Jayce Dimmer Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 Yeah; on youtube, the people ramble on for minutes at a time, with not much actual information on the process. It's absolutely horrendous. If I can get some information from somebody on how this is done, I'll go ahead and punt out tutorials for the information I've recently garnered.
Jayce Dimmer Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 Twenty five minutes to convert an oblivion mesh to Skyrim? Fuck that. This guy's tutorials for getting a mesh into Skyrim was what, an hour?
HeavyDude Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I think the difference in meshes between Skyrim and Oblivion are the positions of the arms. So after import just delete the base body, import a Skyrim one (CBBE, UNP, etc. and freeze the body upon import so you don't accidentally screw something up), then move the arms of the ARMOR, NOT the body, into position (try rotating them). After that its the same process as if you're porting from UNP to CBBE. Also skeletons are different so yeah... This is all purely theoretical, but it makes sense, nothing difficult about it, just very frustrating and time consuming.
Jayce Dimmer Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 Aren't there issues with Oblivion not having the BShaderTexture-or-whatever node? Or would that be covered by ze export... Going to need a bit more than just speculation, sadly
Duoleb The Chosen Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 my amazon armor conversion is almost complete, i even uploaded here with the oblivion and the origimal converted mod here in 1 zip i quit because i didn't had time and also idk how to do the rest because the videos didn't help in nothing, and the tutorial on wiki sucks balls too, and because i suck at modeling too
jimdandy28 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 So in other words your ADHD is so bad you need an "easier" guide in how to do something that takes patience to do well? LOLwut. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc1uR5cVeo9oQHYnIJDk7fw is your best bet. Or you can try his website, though that requires payment.
Vioxsis Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/7119/? Import that skeleton, then import the oblivion armour. (its arms are in the skyrim position) Collapse all the skin modifiers on the armour pieces and then delete the skeleton. Import a skyrim skeleton and then body (hands, feet and head if needed) Start fitting it to your selected body. Weight and export, then in nifskope open it and any armour from skyrim <(that works in skyrim) and copy and paste the BSLightingShaderProperty to the armour you just exported. Then just edit the paths to where you textures are located. open and copy the BSLightingShaderProperty of the body nif to the body in your exported nif. (this has all the settings setup already for you) That is the basics of porting from oblivion. Some textures might need to be edited to work properly in skyrim.
Jayce Dimmer Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 Oh my. Vioxsis comes to save the day again. HUZZAH!
