BearyBry Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 So according to the roadmap released with the cringeworthy "Behind the Sims" announcement then we should be on the second day of "Nostalgia Now". Does anyone have any idea what that actually is? Other than the rumour mill in overdrive about the next EP or the possibility of old games in the franchise getting a refresh, I've not heard anything about the event that's meant to be happening this week, or has it completely passed me by?
Guest Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 I'm also completely confused. There was apparently a "real, official leak" of remasters of TS1 and TS2 coming out for Windows 10 and 11; apparently they come out "January 31st, 2025 at 8APM PT / 5PM CET / 4PM BT". Impossible to know if it's true ofc, and since it was a "leak" it's not likely to be part of this "Nostalgia Now" thing. Very odd.
Faolon Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 https://simscommunity.info/2025/01/28/sims-1-sims-2-release-leak/ I'm curious about it. I'll probably cough up some money for them if they're not too expensive. I mean that's some hardcore nostalgia for me. If they start trying to charge full price for them, then I'll skip. I'm also wondering if they'll be updated to allow for better modding. And either way, what mods will be released. If we can get something similar to what we have in sims 4, then my schedule is gonna be tight. Civ coming out in a bit, then Monster Hunter at the end of the month... 1

If we can get something similar to what we have in sims 4, then my schedule is gonna be tight. I still have TS1 running from my Complete Collection discs (I have the old "no CD" hack so I don't have to insert it each time, though, as I don't have a built-in disc drive) on my Windows 11 computer. It was a refurbished gaming computer but never worked right, so I can't play anything more intense than TS1, though I do still have TS2's Ultimate Collection in my library. My main concern is that it'll alter that in some way – whether make it vanish entirely so I have to buy the new one, or push some update on it – the latter I wouldn't even mind if it's just for compatibility purposes but I don't want my current mods to break in case I ever do get to play the Ultimate Collection again. I also have the Super Collection for TS2 running on my Mac, and it runs great. So I'm very fortunate for all that. The only way I could see me spending money on these re-releases is if they make them available on Mac at some point – I didn't use TS1 on Mac back in the day but I know the old Mac version doesn't work on current Macs, and the Super Collection for TS2 is missing most stuff packs, plus Freetime and Apartment Life. So it'd be nice to play them on my computer that doesn't feel like it's about to melt if I try to do anything on it lol. I will say I really hope they don't update anything else about the games other than the bare minimum for compatibility, though. Both had great mods already; a lot of TS1's have gone MIA but the Sims Archive on archive.org has many great ones. And TS2 has as many mods as I think anyone could need, though I've backed up all my NSFW ones as I know those are likely to vanish at any moment – at least from some of those really old sites that haven't been updated in like 15 years lol. Plus, with the way so many TS4 updates go, and with some serious bugs they refuse to acknowledge (the deformed bodies from like half a year ago, for one), I'm afraid of how they might break these games. Granted there are great TS4 modders to fix most of those issues, my TS2 mod folder is already full of fixes lol. Like, I love TS4, too, but it would be unplayable at this point without modders to fix things. Like 25% of my mods folder is fixes! Sorry, that was long XD.
Faolon Posted January 31, 2025 Posted January 31, 2025 https://www.reddit.com/r/sims2/comments/1iejque/im_testing_the_rerelease_out_this_is_what_i_found/ Doesn't seem worth it if you already own the Ultimate Edition of Sims 2.
