No Quests from books and no Courier

[Dibellor]

Hello,

 

i recently started the Unearth Quest on Solstheim and started wondering why no courier was showing up, then i noticed i didn't see any courier in this playthrough.

I also didn't get any quest that usually start from books like the one for the Gauldur amulett or the Aitherium one (this one only started after i met the ghost of Katria).

 

Does someone have an idea what the problem could be or what mod could be conflicting?

Start by inspecting this record for mods changing it:

 [00] Skyrim.esm (7CAB85A9) \ Quest \ 00039F82 <WICourier>

 

Then find the mods altering any of these scripts:

QF_WICourier_00039F82

WICourierScript

 

If I had to guess, I'd say this is your problem:

When i look at the record and scripts you mentioned it says they should only be overwritten by the USSEP.

But what i am not understanding is:

MO2 shows the .psc files in Data/Source/Scripts are coming from USSEP and data outside MO. Regardless how the psc files in data found they way there.

 

Why is data winning the conflict in MO?

I thought the overall hierachy in MO was from loser to winner: data->mods in MO->overwrite?

 

I deleted the seemingly misplaced files. But psc shouln't make any difference in game, or am i wrong?

More like: mods -> overwrite -> data, where data is the ultimate winner in all situations.

PSC is the source for PEX, so technically yes, but you need these when compiling other mods.

 

Edit: Did you look for these scripts inside mod BSA files?

According to MO the qf_wicourier_00039f82.pex and wicourierscript.pex files are both coming from USSEP bsa file with no conflicts.

 

According to a post on reddit in tried to use player.moveto to find the courier. He was in an seemingly unused version of the dark elf bar in windhelm with no real exit maybe thats why he could come to me.

Well after i found him he handed me a bunch of letters.

 

Regarding my other problem with quests from books. I remembered that in past playthroughs i would get a popup message when reading one of these books asking me if would like to "study it further" only by selecting to study futher i would accept the quest. But i cant find this mod in my LO, my first suspect was Timing is Everything but there is no mention of this function in the description.

After a bit of further testing i can say that on a fresh save with the same mod config i have no problems with gettings quests from books.

Seems i just need to suck it up if i dont want to start fresh. 🥲
