Am I the only one who doesnt really enjoy custom voice acting in animations?

i don't mind sound effects like slurping, slapping, spitting, and things like that, but the moment i hear a moan that does NOT sound like the voice I picked I instantly cringe. Especially if its high pitched anime girl moans. I LOATHE the latter especially, but luckily that one isn't very common.

 

 I suppose this makes me a maxis-match person... Does anyone else feel this way?

Completely agree. I also mostly play M/M Sims and because the M/M only content is relatively rare, I have them set to also use M/F and M/Both animations. So I really hate it when my masc power bottom starts anime girl squealing.

It's totally understandable, most animators prefer to follow the game's aesthetics and keep the simlish voices, because after all you're playing TS4 and not watching a porn movie, but it's also true that these animations are successful and a lot of people like them, so you should let each animator make their animations as they see fit.

 

You said it yourself, it's very similar to what happens with alpha and maxis-match CC, many prefer to make realistic sims even if they don't fit in with the rest of the world, the same thing happens here, people prefer these animations even if they keep speaking in simlish after sex. Personally I feel that it takes away a bit of the immersion of the game, but it's up to each person.

 

So I think everyone should opt for the healthy option, if you don't like this type of animations just don't install them.

The same thing for me. If i read that custom voices are used it means that i will not use these animations at all. Though custom sounds can also be annoying when they are of poor quality. When there is an echo effect, distances and unnecessary noise. It also knocks me out of immersion as well as custom voices.

Totally agree. So I just go into Sims4 settings and lower audio for voices down but any music that's playing up to help drown out any sim sounds.

I prefer the custom moans - fruity, nevely come to mind. I sometimes cringe at the simlish ones, not because of the sounds - it's that the sims are engaged in an elaborate conversation. It's like they are discussing what to cook that night or what shows they like to watch while engaged in sex!  But as Swee3 said, there's plenty of room for everyone and ultimately ofc its driven by the animators' creative vision.

I agree that custom voices are jarring when they're far afield from the voice you chose for your sim in CAS (personally, I don't care for them, so I blacklist them in my own settings). As always, YMMV. But on balance, there's only so many sounds that are vaguely realistic for sex, and there's only so many times your sim can say "Vacara Woga" before it starts getting repetitive.

 

I think this is yet another scenario where you can blame EA for their baked-in limitations. Well, maybe "blame" is the wrong word.  I don't think the developers were thinking at the time; "Hey, lets make sure we have enough variety of dialogue so that later on when someone creates an elaborate sex mod, there's enough phrases to go around." Having said that however; 

 

Dear Animators; Please never use "Ugh, gropo!" in a sex animation ever again. Thank you.

Hate it. Downloaded an animation that had custom voices for male and female. Two male sims doing it, one was moaning in a low pitched voice and the other sounded like Mia Khalifa.

For my taste, the biggest con with custom voices is that it makes every sim sound the same during a sex animation: for example, there is no difference between feminine low, medium and high pitched voices.

 

Also, it's very much possible to prevent the sims from repeating the same 5 words for the entire animation because some animators actually do that.

I never even play with sound on. So if nothing else I prefer no custom voices because I assume the animation package will be smaller without it lol. I like that some animators keep the voice pack separate from the main download for that reason.

From my pov I think it's unnecessary to add custom voices, it's one thing to have a bit of realism in the game by installing adult mods, but to add voices that came out of a porn video, it's like.. ugh no.
