Fear of dark is permanent. How to get rid of it?

Any sims that ends up with that trait is basically stuck with it even long after it's been removed. They don't have the trait and still end up having those moodlets pop up randomly.

 

I've tried so many different "solutions" that I've found elsewhere.

I tried adding the brave trait, then turning fears back on, then having the sim work through and break the fear, then turning fears back off. Only to have the fear of the dark moodlets keep appearing.

I tried turning fears on, cheating the trait on, cheating the trait off, then turning the fears back off. Still came back.

 

It doesn't appear in any cheat menu. Doesn't appear as an active trait in MCCC or any place else. And yet the moodlets keep popping up.

 

Does anyone know of a way other than those listed already for dealing with it? I tried finding a mod for it but couldn't. Does anyone know of a mod?
