Absolute Beginner

Hey all,

Have played Skyrim and then Dawnguard.  Decided to try modding the game to add more life and after looking on the nexus mod manager site wound up here.

I have looked to find an absolute beginners guide but can not seem to quite get it.

This link lays things out for a great start:

http://www.loverslab.com/topic/19343-guidewip-how-to-install-fnis-sexlab-and-sexlab-mods/

Download SKSE from hereplease note SKSE will only work with Skyrim version 1.9.2

2. Go to the FNIS download page on the Nexus.

3. Download the file called FNIS Behavior V4_0_2 -- ALWAYS necessary

4. Download the file called FNIS Idle Spells V4_0_2 -- ADD-ON for the spells

5. Unpack both FNIS files to the desktop.

6. Unpack SKSE to the Desktop.

7. Copy the contents for the SKSE folder to the main Skyrim folder (The one which contents the Data folder)

8. Copy the entire contents of FNIS Behavior V4_0_2 -- ALWAYS necessary to the Skyrim Data folder.

9. Copy the entire contents of FNIS Idle Spells V4_0_2 -- ADD-ON for the spells to the Skyrim Data folder.

10. Download the latest SexLab framework from here.

11. Unpack the SexLab Framework to the desktop.

12. Copy the entire contents of the SexLab Framework folder to the Skyrim Data folder. If it says files already exist, overwrite.

13. Download and install SkyUI located here.

14. In the Skyrim Data folder go open the folder called "Tools". (If it's not there you have not followed the instructions, start again from the beginning)

15. In there you should see two folders, one called GenerateFNIS_for_Modders and another called GenerateFNIS_for_Users

16. Open the folder called GenerateFNIS_for_Users

17. Run GenerateFNIS_for_Users.exe

18. You should now see the FNIS window open up.

19. If you are using xp32 skeleton then make sure you select "SKELETON Arm Fix" from the menu at the bottom of the window.

20. Select "Update FNIS Behaviours"

21. You should see something like the following appear in the window, this is FNIS reading and configuring mods.

But from there I am still confused.

I've installed SKSE

I installed FNIS and I installed the SexLab framework

I installed the SKYUI and I ran GenerateFNIS_for_Users.exe

I also installed Nexus Mod Manager, then some other mod said to install WryeBash so I installed that...

SO I am a little confused.  Should i install mods using NMM or should they be installed using WryeBash?

Do I run NMM then FNIS then BOSS, then Wryebash and then Skyrim finally the skyrim loader from inside that program?

Thanks for any help.

If everything installed ok, you should be able to press Esc > configuration settings and this will bring up the MCM menu. If everything installed ok, you should see 2+ options (depending on any other mods that use MCM)- two of them should be SkyUI and Sexlab. If you installed everything correctly, you can proceed to download and install mods that use sexlab (since Sexlab does not really "do" anything by itself). I highly recommend Matchmaker to give you the pure "select for sex" function - this is the most basic activator of sexlab animations. If some of the more basic mods work well, try some of the more sophisticated ones like Sanguine's Debauchery and Devious Devices.

From now on, you should probably only launch through SKSE.

As far as installation goes, read the Support topic for each mod to determine your course of action, but many are NMM friendly.

If you have any further questions, be sure to read some of the pinned posts in the Sexlab and SL tech support sections. Good luck and happy modding

NMM is just there for installing and organized but I prefer Wrye Bash to do that. You can use either NMM or Wrye Bash to install mods but I usually use the one the mod author says to use. FNIS is mostly for animations I think. You only run that when you add or remove mods. You'll want to use BOSS to set your load order correctly, then use Wrye Bash to make a Bashed Patch. Put the Bashed Patch at the bottom of your mods since BOSS will always sort the Bashed Patch.esp to the bottom of the mods it recognizes and sorts.
