Thinking about returning to the modding scene

I just reinstalled Skyrim on a whim and am impressed by how much easier it's become to mod on Linux. And it looks like I can even create a mod using TypeScript with a proper IDE, which piqued my interest.

Maybe I should try creating an AI mod focusing on player slavery. It won't be easy because I can only spend a few hours on weekends and I won't base it on existing AI mods like Mantella or AI Follower Framework.

So, don't hold your breath for a release, please. It'll take quite a while even if I manage to create something even remotely playable. 😅

I'll open a thread if I make enough progress to share updates.

Not that I'm any well-known modder, having just two mods under my name, all of which I abandoned not long after I started them.

But I figured I should say hi after staying away from anything Skyrim for so long.

Those were good mod concepts.

Thanks. I wish I had been more capable of developing them into something more playable.

We'll see if I can do a better job this time. I have quite a few complications with real life now, so I won't be able to invest as much time as I did when I was working on those mods.

On the bright side, however, the main reason why I decided to abandon Skyrim modding is now gone.

I got so frustrated with working with Papyrus/CK back then. But now it feels much easier, with the ability to use the language and tool I like and not having to restart Skyrim every time I change things.

I managed to create my own AI backend as a proof-of-concept, which I may develop into something more interesting. Currently, it's just an NPC that speaks a procedurally generated dialogue line with a matching lip sync animation every time I activate something.

But I'm glad it only took a day, and it runs pretty well on Linux too. I noticed many things have changed since I left, like how people are using something called "Ostim" instead of the good old Sexlab, for example. Can't wait to see what new features it provides that I may use.

Also, I'm curious how far I'll be able to go on the TypeScript (i.e. Skyrim Platform) side. It'll be interesting to see if it'd be feasible to replace/supplement things like the AI Packages with a custom implementation.
