no pie menu since update

okay, as of last update the pie menu has disappeared, no control. I've removed the mod folder completely and attempted to access the current family, no luck there. family loads okay - minus all the mods but again no change. I've even cleared the resources & local thumbcashe and still no change.

I've read one possible fix is to uninstall and then re-install, but with a loss of all saved progress (which I'm reluctant to do - since I can't remember the passwords / access codes to install again - it's been years since first installation)

I've also ran EA's repair option, and again no change.

currently there's no last exception reports to work with, just nothing. 

can anyone offer a solution? or suggest which files maybe effecting the simulation.

would greatly appreciate it.
