Agramon32 Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 I wish you people a good day. So i'm having a interesting problem with my skyrim se, the problem is it will freeze the game after i finish the Dark brotherhood quest called Mourning never comes quest( https://skyrim.fandom.com/wiki/Mourning_Never_Comes ) not in a instant, i can still play the game for a while, than the inevitable freezing comes, i can't sleep or wait as that will end up in a freeze also. And if i don't finish that quest i can play the game however i would like no freezing, so i have no clue what is going on. I had a different character with almost the same setup, only difference i had legacy of the dragonborn in that, and i could finish the DB questline. That character had a different problem but that save is finished so it doesn't matter. I will include the load order too. Thanks in advance. Load Order.txt
traison Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 As with all freezes, trying to actually figure them out and fix them is going to be far, far more complicated than ripping your setup apart to find the culprit. 1
Agramon32 Posted October 3, 2024 Author Posted October 3, 2024 So i should rebuild the whole thing and start a new character would be my best option, or are there any steps that i could take here ?
traison Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Not sure I'd go straight to rebuilding. As long as you don't know what's causing it, what's stopping you from rebuilding everything including the problem? Freezing tends to be game data related. "duh that's like saying it could be anything" yes I know, however at this stage I'd rule out things like ENB/CS/ReShade, mountain textures, tree meshes, angry mudcrab mods, etc. and focus more on things that add or alter npcs, navmeshes, engine/bug fixes, audio, etc. something a bit more substantial and specific to your surroundings. What I'd do, since you seem to have a reliable test case, is: Create a save that's as close to the freeze as possible. The closer and more reliable you get it the more time and nerves you save. Get comfortable using ReSaver. Remove a mod disregarding any "best practices" you might have picked up so far, and clean up its remnants with ReSaver. Load the game, test. If you're on Vortex this may be difficult to do, but in MO2 just uncheck a mod to remove it. Create a new profile in MO2 before you start ripping everything apart, this way you can easily go back to where you started from and only disable the mod causing the freezes once you know which one it is.
Agramon32 Posted October 4, 2024 Author Posted October 4, 2024 Yesterday i've created a new test character with the same setup, and i ran over the DB quests just to see if it will freeze when i finish mourning never comes. It did not, so now i'm thinking some scripts or something doesn't work as it should, I'm not far in with this character so i might scrap it and start a new one.
Agramon32 Posted October 5, 2024 Author Posted October 5, 2024 Well that didn't worked out. Though i did make it farther in the quest line, but it still froze. So it looks like this playthrough will be the first where i don't use Shadowmere... @traison I use mo2 used mo1 before, but i still don't understand the program well. Like how to deal with the left side of the mod list. And on the right side in the Data tab i have a lot of conflicts that i don't know how to deal with.

And on the right side in the Data tab i have a lot of conflicts that i don't know how to deal with. The Data tab only shows which files are currently being used. Its what the game sees when its running. The left side resolves file conflicts; changing the order here can change the files that show up in the Data tab. I think people generally suggest the left side is sorted the same way your plugins list. Me personally do not follow this, I do my sorting by hand as needed. A case of "do as I say, not as I do" I guess. 2 hours ago, Agramon32 said: Well that didn't worked out. Though i did make it farther in the quest line, but it still froze. There is one extremely valuable positive here, even though it may not seem like it. Consistency like this is not guaranteed and it makes testing much much easier. Edited October 5, 2024 by traison 1
