TheRightDoorIsNotTheLeft Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Everyone has encountered Ecliptic mercenaries at this point. Always hostile on sight, whether they're ships or people at POIs. If you listen to a random SSNN broadcast, you'll hear about how Ecliptic mercenaries were once a group that helped make the Settled Systems safe from threats, but are now one of the threats. It got me to thinking. What if one or more of the Starborn corrupted the Ecliptic? Not much to go on since the lore is really anemic in this game. It was the entrance to the buried temple, built by Ecliptic, that got me thinking along those lines. Sure, they were slaughtered by the Starborn before we arrive there, but what if one or more of the Starborn were leading them? I know, not much to go on, but it's an idea. The alternative is that it's just a random choice by the developers just so we'd have random combat experiences.
TheRightDoorIsNotTheLeft Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 And think about this. Ecliptic -- eclipse -- related to suns, planets, and moons. A moon or planet blocking out the sun. Very space-themed motif right there.

This sounds like Fallout 2, in the beginning at least, I feel something like this will be fleshed out in the DLC, sounds interesting.
