menatv Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 So with Patch #7 (I think) recently released for the PC (and I guess later for the console and us 5 Mac users), are mod's going to be easier to load and use now? As much as I would love adult mods, it would be great to easily add mods for extra levels/experience and add unlimited party members as well. Yes I know they exist on Nexus. But I was hoping with the new patch it would be easier to download and use them for someone like me who knows nothing about modding and load order of mods. Anyone created or used mods successfully after this latest patch was released for Baldur's Gate 3?
Uhuru N'Uru Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 (edited) No, virtually nothing has really changed. as with any "Official Modding", regardless of whether cconsoles are involved, it means "Restricted Modding". BG3 is already as "Modular" as it gets mod = pak file, nothings really changed there. That limited form of modding can't really get much easier, though the mod.io site is of little interest to us on PC.. It's size limited from what I read & I assume will be the source for "Officially approved Mods for consoles" More advanced unofficial modding, usually requires adding functionality for the parts that don't exist yet, or do & we can't access that part. Animations rarely if ever get official tools, mostly because Pretty mucch the entire industry uses very expensive tools, they can't provide to modders. There's Native Loader mods, they are not going anywhere, plus other "Game Folder" mods Simple fact is modding can't be made any easier than it is to make the original game & the only way it's made "Easier", is to limit what parts of the game get modded. Completely impossible to police that on PC, where no walled gardens exist to impose such restrictions, Consoles have the walled garden & modding is very restricted. On the subject of "Adult Mods" there's already a BG3SX - Sex Framework mod, which is a much needed step. Edited September 12, 2024 by Uhuru N'Uru I hit Post & only THEN see the typo 2
XEman Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 Third party mods are still supported - plenty of them will work if you drop them into the mods folder ( %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods ), you just need to extract the .pak files and pop them in there. If the zip doesn't have a .pak in it, then you may need a mod manager. You can search and download mods in the game client that is uploaded to Larian/mod.io using the toolkit now... for changing the party size limit there's Adjustable Party Limit. Search and download in a couple clicks. 1
