Dipping my toes in the water

I've made a few posts here and there, but I thought I'd make a sort of formal first proper post to say hi.

I've been a casual modder since Oblivion (never caught onto it with Morrowind), but recently, after installing Skyrim again, having played it to death when it came out, I've gotten seriously into some of the adult modding stuff.

I must say, this adult modding malarkey gives one a hell of an incentive to get a bit deeper into computing!  I've had a shallow acquaintance with PCs for years (always built my own, used to handle basic DOS stuff to set up games), and recently I've been hankering more and more to get deeper.  It has to be said that really wanting to see a sexy effect is a huge incentive to learn! :)  The Rule of First Adopters indeed!

How I'm getting my toes in the water now is doing a lot of swapping out of meshes and textures in standalone races.  Since I started using Mod Organizer, it's made life about a hundred times easier for modding Skyrim (really, if you've never used it, I can't stress enough how easy it makes all this, and how it facilitates experimentation while leaving your "serious" game completely pristine and ongoing).  I've been playing around with Ningheim, Temptress and Lovergirls, and I feel I'm starting to get a bit of a handle on what goes where, and being able to mix and match without messing up.  My middle-term aim is to learn more about how the bodies are constructed, animated, etc., maybe to make armors, and to convert wanted armors to give something back to the community.  Then maybe make a quest, then maybe a small new zone.  Long-term, really long term, my vague aim is to perhaps do a TC - nothing huge, but a different lore perhaps.

But basically, I'm just following my nose - following my bliss, if you will :)

Any tips for someone in my position greatly appreciated!
