ceherr Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 I usually age up my newborn sims when they’ve been newborns for about 2 sims weeks then I age them up to infant. Even though infant is more to work with than newborn, I really like the clothes and cc. Just curious on when you all age up your newborns
GMac2021 Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Either instantly or I ship them off to an orphanage and delete them. I despise kids of all ages in this game. Get your kids away from my horny naked people. Age up age up get out get out go away. No kids in my game unless it glitches and EA spews a child out.

I get that! I set my pregnancy rate at a low 10% hoping to curb the problem while still letting them do their thing as much as they pleased... Yet all they had to do was look at each other funny and. Yay. Baby. Sigh. Sure, I wanted them to have a couple that I could play with afterwards once the first pair got old, hence why I didn't just block it completely... But 5!? And they're not even multiples and dad isn't even halfway through adulthood. I think the most times they had sex without conceiving in a row was 3. Like wtf. Is the math even mathing? But then I put these children into the world and then I kinda feel responsible. 😐 Now I have slapped hypofertility on the woman hoping it wouldn't turn into 6 children when I let them have fun next time, but the results of that are pending because the update kinda screwed with my game and I don't have time to fix it right now. 😆 1
Faolon Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 (edited) I think I use the default age for Normal life spans, which is like 5 days. Babies are at 3 days. That's about my limit for dealing with those two age ranges. I've tried longer and I couldn't deal with it. They got super annoying to deal with. After that: Toddlers - 7 days Children - 35 days Teens - 50 days YA - 100 Days Adults - 120 days Elder - 30 days The way I look at it is that kids are babies only for like 1 year, then they're infants for like 2 or 3 more. Then they're toddlers for a couple years and at about 6 they become children. Then at 13 they become Teens, and because of the way the game works, teenage years have to end at 18, but I make it a little longer because there's more stuff to do as a teen. Young Adult, imo, is up until around 35-40 years old. So that's about 17 to 22 years as a Young Adult. Then adulthood last until you're retired, but I don't like playing elders, so I extend it. I imagine they enter the Elder stage at around 65-70. So adulthood lasts a few years more than YA. 25-30 years. I figured 30 days for Elder because most of the time they live longer than that, but it's not uncommon for people to start dying at the 65+ range. Healthier elders, who have done a lot of Fitness, tend to last much longer than the sedentary ones, just like IRL. This allows for a lot of variation without filling my game with tons of elderly folk. Edited September 19, 2024 by Faolon
Fake McCoy Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Usually within a few game hours. I might get everyone up to parenting 2 or thereabouts, but then I move them up to infants. And since I mostly do generational play, what I'm prone to do is have my sim have kids with sims outside my house, then wait to adopt the kids until they're at the child stage. If they get any traits I don't want, I'll fix it in post CAS.
