This thread certainly hasn't been much of an indicator of being alive anyway. I joined Jaytwoster's server back when this thread was new and started posting my mod work there, since then I joined the unofficial Atlyss server, and a couple of community servers like Hot Springs, Shy RP etc. At some point we felt that the big community servers were not really managing the modding channels very well and we started our own Atlyss Modding Central server, this is the invite: https://discord.gg/hQceRJ7pEW

 

In the early days there was some talk about using Nexus or Thunderstore for the bulk of modding, and it seems the community has chosen Thunderstore, it's probably the most convenient choice for users since they have the mod manager API sorted out for getting and installing BepInEx for you, which is pretty essential for our modding. I recommend r2Modman over Thunderstore Mod Manager, since they look very much the same except r2MM doesn't have adverts crammed into it and doesn't require a third party installer manager program just to get it.

 

Perhaps ironically, I am not in Jaytwoster's server anymore, during the last wave of Discord being shit and trying to enforce the ID checking they arbitrarily decided my account was a teenage one somehow (despite having done the ID check shit a year beforehand due to UK government prompted bullshit, I just used my quite old provisional driver's license hah), so I wasn't actually able to view any 18+ marked channels for about a week, this meant I couldn't post in my very first Homebrewery thread! I had gotten the impression my account was just going to be fucked over forever and I didn't want to do the new ID check so I just asked a moderator to post a message on my behalf saying I was leaving due to nonsense and that I could always be found in the Atlyss Modding Central server. I never could be bothered to rejoin since that server had gotten very quiet in the modding categories for a while before this shit happened.

 

Oh and it doesn't help the "dead"ness that it's been months since the game last updated!

And this is exactly why I don't like discord servers for modding. We don't know any updates, what's going on, community is split, cant give feedback, etc.

Not everyone has a discord, nor wants their discord tied to NSFW due to multiple reasons, let alone multiple of the same NSFW server that's split because of mismanagement.

That is absolutely understandable. I also hate joining servers to be able to find stuff, but in my case it's just been more convenient to be where the players are so I can get feedback rather than hope they come to me, barely anyone does. There have been issues with Homebrewery in the past that people found compromises to deal with which I only learned about weeks later and could have fixed in minutes had anyone told me!

 

I wouldn't say you're really missing out on much honestly, there's practically nothing "private" in the discord servers. Mods get uploaded to Thunderstore, I know they don't have comments there which is unfortunate. But in the Discord servers that are mainly social ones, I feel like the modding channels are an afterthought and you don't see much activity from actual modders in them anyway. It's more convenient for me to build walls of text in one of my threads than write a post here, and the bulk of it would be ignored as much as those posts in the servers do.

 

And what should I even write about anyway? I've got a mile long list of patch notes for the next version of HB due to a massive refactor and significant improvements, afforded by how long it's been since the game last updated. The Qatest branch is getting constant updates that keep me on my toes as Kiseff renames methods and fields almost as if to trip me up specifically.

I just like the social interactions without the fear of being banned, kicked, or another due to how servers tend to be. And having alts can be annoying the majority of the time.

And even updates are few and far between, its still nice to see. Forums are great for that.

Well, I will say that with the influence I had over the creation of the modding server, I insisted that there wouldn't be any major presence of social type channels at all, since we already have all those other fucking servers for that, in which I have all the channels muted and hidden except for the couple modding ones in each server. Atlyss Modding Central has one single "off-topic" channel, every other channel is modding focused with the forum channels for mod posts and requests.

 

I would like to think that any discourse you might anticipate from the social servers (and there has been some) will never end up causing melodrama for us. I really do not have the patience for it.

 

If you're not a phishing bot, nor annoyingly melodramatic/zealous then you shouldn't have to worry about getting hit by moderation. I'd be happy to not have to think about it myself.

I remember mucking around with this game a while ago but I can't find the nude mods other than shlongs I used to use, namely textures and stuff for female players and NPCs
