A question about using higher version d3d9.dll

Hi there,

Just have a little issue about using higher d3d9.dll. I am using this CinemaScope ENB: http://http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/15425/?

which uses 0.108 version of enbseries. I really like the feeling of this enb and also it gives me constant 60 fps which is the only enb I found can(my video card is GTX 660 1.5GB VRAM). So only one problem is version 0.108 doesn't support DoF, then I tried to use 0.121212's d3d9.dll then it actually worked. Not just it enables DoF, the colors and shadows are even better. But then I noticed this higher d3d9.dll increased random CTDs. After I played for maybe two hours I found myself couldn't go to any exteriors anymore. No matter which save I loaded, I can stay in interiors but whenever I tried to enter an exterior cell the game CTDs. It works fine with the original dll just the new ones. I tried other newer dlls too with all the same results.

Does anyone know why? I really wanna keep 0.121212 version that looks just perfect. Can I tweak out of that? Or maybe any enb suggestion for similiar feel but has DoF?

Thanks in advance.

You can't really tweak a dll, and since version 108 is the most stable for you, I suggest to keep it and add Dynavision for dof :)

thanks for replaying. What I was saying was.. can I tweak it out by enbseries.ini? The difference between two versions is written down in ini file right? I have Dynavision but its not that good

The newer .dll"s use the enbhost.exe which in my case was giving me ctd's because of something to do with sunglare if my character was already outside the glare would eventually cover the entire screen and crash. the enbhost and the newer dll handle things differently then the older dll on it's own did. best to use the dll required by the enb your using till enb's get updated (if they do) to use the newer dll/enbhost combo.

in your case you just need to disable sunray in enbseries.ini and enable the rendertarget something in skyrimprefs.ini I believe. Strange thing for me is it was working for almost 2 hours and now it completely doesn't work.

Well Dynavision is at least good performance-wise.

Of course you can try to tweak the ini file, and search for what is causing ctd... but that's a lot of work!

And the difference is really huge between your 2 ini, simply because your version is very old: you can have the exact same parameter stable for you in 108 and causing ctd in 212...

I don't think that would be that bad jump from 108 to 121212, but... Awww, I tried to turn everything that 108 doesn't have in 121212 but it still doesn't work :(

Well yeah, Boris changed a lot of things in his program...

You can try to deactivate everything and then add little by little until ctd.

Update your drivers, upgrade to the latest ENB releases, find the config you like, or tweak one you nearly like. It's nice and easy using the Shift+Enter ingame GUI.
