Daringhealer Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 (edited) So this question doesn't really involve HDT SMP to an extent but I ended up downloading it as well as it's requirements as well as the required mods, mods. I used the fores new idles popup menu and did the steps, I got in the game and it made my character look sooo messed up, I Uninstaller everything and it still looks this way, if I uninstall skyrim will things go back to default? If not how would I fix this to go default? Edited August 11, 2024 by Daringhealer
traison Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 The sledgehammer approach? Remove all mods from your mod manager, apply your changes (if applicable). Delete the Skyrim directory entirely and redownload it from Steam.
OldTimer91 Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Don't forget to build your HDT compatible outfits with Outfit Studio
alphabetsoupdog1234 Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Unfortunately the: "I downloaded this mod and a lot of others but it broke my character, what can I do?" question doesn't really give anyone much room to help. We have absolutely no idea what any of the processes you went through for this were. What I can tell you is this: if you installed mods and they broke your character so you uninstalled them, if you load a save from before the mod installation everything should be back to normal. If it's not, that means you are either installing the mods manually or using a mod manager that does not properly remove the mods. If you're using anything other than MO2 or Vortex for installing your mods (with a few exceptions like an ENB, or SKSE), you're likely making a mistake. Any effect on PRE-MOD saves after you've removed the mods? You didn't remove them properly. This is common with manual installation because there's subfolders and scripts and all kinds of other things and you have to make sure to find each and every one of them, not just the ESPs - but not delete the files for other mods that DIDN'T break things. Either that, or just delete it all and start over. Thus, manual installation is typically a bad idea; if you do everything flawlessly in one attempt it's fine, otherwise... Not so much. Using MO2 or Vortex is essentially the only way 99% of people should install any and all Skyrim mods (again, aside from SKSE/ENB - and maybe a few others that specifically require 2-part installation like 'SSE Engine Fixes' if you use that). Any of the stuff that affects what is available or happens in game should be installed via a mod manager. Deployed into your data directory (Vortex), or kept in a virtual data directory that gets loaded only when launching the game (MO2). Manual installation can and will make it difficult (or impossible) to remove without a backup / complete wipe and reinstall. NB - FSMP has a lot of files, it's not just an ESP. If installed manually, you'd have to be EXTREMELY careful because it's intended to be installed using a mod manager which lets it pick and choose what pieces to install and where. I'd be less than surprised if copying all of it in wholesale broke a character that used physics. That said, if removed properly it too will be unable to affect any saves from before its installation. Also, when installed correctly, it shouldn't break a character unless there's other broken stuff. 1
