Game crashes before main menu loads in.

The source of your crashes may be coming from DAR, which was not updated to support your version of Skyrim.

Since DAR hasn't been updated for a long time, people have switched over to OAR

Open Animation Replacer a different version of DAR that is compatible with your version of Skyrim (I think)

Just out of curiosity, what makes you say that? Not seeing any mention of DAR in here. Does acon.dll have something to do with DAR?

The way I see this, this crash was directly caused by acon.dll. That dll has a bug in it. Remove or otherwise change it.

Personal experience, this person and I share the same Skyrim version.

Acon.dll, I believe, is the plugin loader(?). Something that is part of SKSE, I'm not so sure if we want to mess with that too much.

The prevailing theory is that if the crash occurred in Acon, that means a couple of things;

-SKSE is out of date (but SKSE normally gives you a pop up for that)

-A plugin did not load correctly

And there's a lot of reasons on why a plugin won't load, but a common reason tends to be that an incompatible plugin from somewhere else.

I could be wrong, but the logger tells us where the crash happened, but not necessarily the cause. Towards the bottom where the plugins are listed is when I noticed mr.handcrabspirit was still using DAR, which wasn't updated for the version of Skyrim. Meanwhile Acon was updated and no longer recognizes the old format of DAR.

(I might be biased, since I had a lot of problems running DAR >_<)

Actually it tells you both, but the situation is usually not so obvious. The cause was that it tried to dereference RAX which was in an area of the memory where it wasn't allowed to go. Since RAX was not 0x0 (a null pointer) I would be leaning more towards the corrupted data side of things, as in, somewhere a file contained the wrong value or the result of some arithmetic was not expected.

If acon is indeed a plugin loader of some kind then it's quite unfortunate that it itself crashes when a dll fails to load. As it is here, its totally masking what dll it was that caused the crash. Perhaps there's a acon log somewhere?

A plugin and or file in an outdated format could contain wrong values or unexpected arithmetic. This would be your data corruption read.

We should just let the person experiment by switching out DAR and just simply see if the game works. It would be unfair to them to constantly theorycraft all day.

First would like to thank the both of contributors for the assistance.

I removed The DAR file and tried running the game which still crashed at the start menu.

resulting crashlog:  https://pastebin.com/LHV2vnmh

I've tried switching to a old mod profile with all the old plugins  still active and i can get  the game to load but all my characters are t posing despite running Finis and removing animations not compatible with my version.

using the newer profile Im gonna now try by disabling mods till I can get the game to at least run with characters moving properly.

Latest crash was still caused by acon.dll.

Went mod by mod there was a duplicate DAR mod with a mislabel name. removing it fixed it.

As for the T pos issue, i forgot the little step needed when using MO2 and Fnis which is after registering animations with fnis you need to right click on your overrides tab in MO2 and create a new mod.

Thanks again to you both for all the help. I'll see you again in a week or so when I inevitably muck up my plugin list again
