KyleKatarn1980 Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 OK so I've been trying to modify some of the TMCMesh Polygons using Blender 2.83.20. I had to cut some of the Polygons around the Body from the lower side of the legs, then I had to save the TMCMesh once I got it down. And when I looked at the same TMCMesh that I modified through LR Photo Studio Tool, I noticed the Polygon "Hills" are visible around the body and doesn't look that good for the game. Is there a way where I can make the Mesh file have a smoother model so it looks better? Here's an example.
himawari56 Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 When entering edit mode for the first time using blender, the model will recalculate the normal direction, so there will be seams, maybe you can try to merge these vertices. Or install the Keep Vertex Normals 1.1.0 plug-in for blender to prevent blender from recalculating the normal direction of the model. However, I am using blender 2.82, so I am not sure if there is a 2.83 version of this plug-in. After installation, find the feature at the location on the picture and check the option circled on the picture. This way the model can maintain its original normal direction after entering edit mode. for Blender Keep Vertex Normals 1.1.0.zip 2

The only thing now is that I'm trying to find the option where you would click on it saying "Keep Vertex Normal" because I can't really find it around my version of Blender unless anyone knows. Sorry even if I'm just a little new to this tool that I would like to modify for Dead or Alive 5. Edit: Nevermind I just changed my Blender to the one you're using. So I guess it's in the Misc Tool huh? Edited August 3, 2024 by KyleKatarn1980 Fixing spelling
KyleKatarn1980 Posted August 4, 2024 Author Posted August 4, 2024 Actually I think I now manage to keep the TMCMesh smooth especially while modifying it's vertices. Now I just probably need to get down the shadow in the game so it won't flicker with the Mesh that I'm using with the Mod, hope I can get tips from that as well.
Meister89 Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Funny enough "keep vertex normal" doesn't work on my end. It is ticked and active still... using blender 2.83.17 One can use "Merge vertices by distance", but that damages the mesh for doa5 models to some degree (for instance finger/nails/toes). One can also use Timmy C's tool Object Converter to be found in this forum. Yet that has some undesired sideeffect too, but a great tool nonetheless and can repair even damaged meshes to a good degree. You migh refer to the flickering I know. this happens if you have an empty mesh, but not set the shadow cast to "2". See attached image. CollarB_0 is empty but if Cast is set to "1" a strange shadow flicker can occur. Set to "2" is recommended for empty slots without mesh data/vertex if you want to keep this slot. Or delete empty slots is an option as well. 1
KyleKatarn1980 Posted November 2, 2024 Author Posted November 2, 2024 Thank you for these tips, I think I'm probably used to modifying these mods now. 😌 1
JPMoriarty Posted January 4, 2025 Posted January 4, 2025 (edited) If I'm not mistaken, funnybunny666 still uses blender 2.79 due to this plug-in for keeping normals not working in blender 2.83 and 2.93. I myself, used mostly 2.83, and there is a way to avoid ugly nails. When merging body vertex by distance, don't select the nails, either in the hands or in the feet. This can be done easily by using the "circle" select tool, picking up some body areas, and hitting ctrl + to expand the selection to pick the entire body surface, leaving the nails out. Then, TimmyC tool can be used to correct body normals. There is another thing which might work, but I haven't tried in the body, only in the head. It's to copy normals from another body to the one which needs correction with breast copy machine. This is the way I managed to make Momiji with Vulcan ears and have the head normals ok. JPMoriarty Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 (edited) 10 minutes video tutotial, showing weight transfer to body mesh, mesh smoothing, re-injecting body mesh into mod and finalizing with post-processing tool: https://mega.nz/file/FtMQXSRa#QQ2HMMND4r0BDSYfhmWC-b2wxMBcovThhbWY2yILrNU blender 2.83.20. Works better than 2.93 Edited January 11, 2025 by cfreitas
