Take Notes Journal Won't Close - Solution

I'm posting my solution to this fairly obscure problem because when it happened to me, a web search didn't find a good discussion, just a now-locked post on another site from someone else who's had this happen, with no helpful responses.

 

Problem:  After opening the Take Notes journal, clicking the Close tab or using its hotkey to close it does nothing.

 

Solution:  Another mod is using the same hotkey that Take Notes uses to open the journal (X by default).  Remap one of those hotkeys.  (In my case, the other mod was trying to open a pop-up notification when the hotkey was pressed.)
