vxvtaylorvxv Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 I was wanting to make an armor from a few different modded armors but i have no idea how i would go about doing it. Anyone know the basics, tools or a link to a guide?
Izanag Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 For what you would like to do, you'll want to import the meshes (.nifs) of the armors into a program like 3DS max or Blender. The tools you need are: Nifskope (http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/NifSkope) 3DS max 2012 or Blender (http://www.autodesk.com/products/autodesk-3ds-max/overview) (http://www.blender.org/) (3DS max is paid software, but if your a student you can get a free license at: (http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/3ds-max) Nif File plugin for 3DS max or blender (http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/max_plugins/) (http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/blender_nif_scripts/) Tutorial's: Nightasy has good videos on setting up your work environment and the basic's of working in 3DS max with nifs etc... (http://www.youtube.com/user/NightasyTutorials/videos) Hanaisse has made some tutorials on using/working on nifs in blender (http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/topic/5639-creating-skyrim-armor-in-blender-tutorial-series/) The tutorial's don't explain about combining different armors together, but they teach you what you need to know for e.g. converting armors to another body, once you understand how the tools work what you want to achieve is easy enough to do on your own. Note: 3DS max has a 30 day trial. Personally I would recommend 3DS max since it's has an easier to use interface, but this is my opinion so try both if you want and see which you prefer.
