Mod Idea: It Followed Me Home

Alright, we've all seen in Hearthfire that your adopted kids can bring home a dog or two after wandering around the countryside, but while I was gathering resources to build Windstadt Manor I got to thinking: My house is within spitting distance of a vampire filled swamp, a necromancer defiled barrow, and a draugr infested ruin. Not to mention the miles upon miles of wilderness filled with Ice Wraiths, Wispmothers, Spriggans, Marauding Daedra, Dwemer Constructs, Dawnguard Trolls, and possibly Ash Spawn.

Where the hell did these kids find a stray dog in all that!? The proposal for this mod would be that instead of a simple dog, your child would bring home something thematically appropriate to the region. For example, in Morthal they'd bring home a friendly Draugr Deathlord, in Markarth they'd bring home a Dwemer Spider, in Riften they'd bring home a Skeever etc.

I'd do it myself, but I haven't the faintest idea where to begin. I lack any and all experience, and the last time I used the Construction Kit I think I accidentally caused WW III, but hey, if you think it's a fun idea, go right ahead.

A friendly Draugr? A Dwemer Spider? While the Skeever actually could work, the other to examples you mentioned are rather unlikely, mainly because both of them wouldn't think twice to kill any hostiles, and due to their unliving nature neither of them could reconsider.

While the idea itself has a point for immersion, it would be difficult to think about all possible creatures for each reagion that wouldn't massacre your family.

But if it bugs you that they bring a dog home even though they aren't much of them in the wilds, it may be the best idea to simply add them there.

I fear you've misapprehended the idea behind this mod-concept. It's not about increasing immersion, it's about increasing the humor. Taking the cliche'd "It followed me home" trope and adding the traditional comedic exaggeration, e.g. "ED-209 followed me home dad! Can I keep it?"

Ah, humor, a concept that seems to be the most underrated idea for mods. In this case there is something really ridiculous needed though; with a silly name like "Arthi, the former Witchking" or any other reference you might find a Draugry would work, but the real deal would be something over the top, like a Werewolf, Dremora or even a Dragon.

Aye, Werewolf was going to be my idea for a pet found in Whiterun.

Draugr Deathoverlord for Morthal.

Some kind of Skeever Of Unusual Size for Riften.

Falkreath gets a Spriggan Earth Matron. Or possibly some kind of Super Spriggan.

Markarth gets either a Dwemer Centurion or a Dwemer Spider Defender.

Solitude gets... Hmmmmmm.... Ah, yes, Haskill.

Dawnstar gets a Daedric Lord.

Winterhold gets a Ghostly Mage.

Windhelm gets a Frost Troll.

And Ravenrock gets Vivec. Yes. Literally Vivec.
