Every time the game updates they replace the resources.assets file. The best way to keep the mod up to date is to use Asset Bundle Extractor found here: https://github.com/SeriousCache/UABE/releases/tag/v3.0-beta1. Also, since the author won't go and put the effort into making all the armor disappear, you need this mod as well: https://www.nexusmods.com/lastepoch/mods/4. Before you do anything else, if you are wearing any cash shop items, get into game and remove them. You won't be able to do that after you complete this process and your character will not show up nude. Follow the instructions for that mod and download the skins standalone file. This mod works as intended in offline mode but has significant issues online. I'll explain more later in this post.

The graphics files go here: Steam\steamapps\common\Last Epoch\Mods. Unpack the unity raw files anywhere you want, just remember where you put them. The invisible body issue is cased by the higher level helmets, not the armors and most of the high level armors are missing from this mod. Don't ever expect the auther to fix that.

The resources.assets file is located here Steam\steamapps\common\Last Epoch\Last Epoch_Data. Open the Asset Bundle Extractor, go to file/open and navigate to the before mentioned folder and open the resources.assets file. In the extractor click on the resources.assets (Assets) and right side will populate with all the asset files. A lot of them say unknown. At the top of all that data you will see Name | Container | Type | File ID | Path ID | Size (bytes) | Modified. Click name to organize the list alphabetically. The first click organizes the list Z-A, click it again.

Scroll Down till you see "Acolyte_Body." There are two of them now and you want the one that has Path ID 12029. Go to the far right side and click import raw. It will open file explorer in windows. Navigate to the folder holding the unpacked raw files and open the Acolyte file. Now scroll down till you find "Rogue_Body_GEO" with Path ID 12388. Import the Rogue raw files. I just noticed with Patch 1.1.3 the path ID for both the Acolyte and Rouge body mesh has changed. If I don't update this post, just remember that the file you want to replace is a mesh file and has a 7 digit number in the size (bytes) column. Go to File/Apply and Save All and save. The Asset Bundel Extender did not replace the resources.asset file as you would have expected it to so there are a few more steps.

Go to Steam\steamapps\common\Last Epoch\Last Epoch_Data and scoll down till you see the resources.assets file. Make a copy of the resources.asset file just in case, (should be standard practice when modding) and then delete it. As a side note, if you do delete the file and not save a copy, just go to Steam and have Steam verify the file integrity.  Below that file is resources.assets-mod. Rename the file deleting the -mod and say yes to the pop up that windows gives you. In order to make this mod work, you need the mod from the nexus and you have to follow that mods instructions to the letter using the skins standalone.

Run Last Epoch. Enter the inventory and go to appearance. You will notice that the skins standalone has replaced the games appearance screen. The skins standalone won't trigger any of EHG's cheating sensors because it isn't changing any of the data their servers are getting. This is why it was important to remove the cash shop items before starting. As I mentioned before, the skins standalone works in offline mode as intended, but in online mode, all of the Acolytes item slots are stuck on the helmet and don't work. Best to use this in offline mode.

Have you been able to make this work with the current version of Last Epoch?

Thanks for describing how to find the proper asset mesh file (there is only one with 7 digits, so it's not hard to find:

I'm in the process of redownloading the game from Steam, because I've used a later version of MelonLoader at first but it seems only 5.7 works with the skins mod from nexusmods.

And the next time I tried to run the game the CLI told me this

Unsupported metadata version found! We support 23-29, got 31

Let's see if I can follow the description on Nexusmods to the letter 🙈... or perhaps you can tell me, if it's still working at all 😅.

And from the LE mod enabler (required),

do I only need to copy the contents of Mods and ignore the rest?

It seems that the error I encountered yesterday is something that's not due to my inability in following the instructions for the skins mod:
https://www.nexusmods.com/lastepoch/mods/4?tab=bugs

Now it seems I'm at a loss.

Yes, it is bugged, I followed the instruction, got my character naked, quit the game, immediately lauched it again and it didn't work anymore.

Then I tried it again on my other PC, a laptop. I disabled the wifi just to be sure the game wouldn't be updated and the exact same things happened : after a successful first launch with the mod, it wouldn't work again : the characters are invisible and there's an  error messages about loading texture.

I did try again after a few month and game updates and got the same result : it work the first time you launch the game after modding it and then never again.

There's probably some written config files or cached data that prevent the mod from running correctly again...

Thank you for sharing your observations, albeit sad ones 😿.

I'm still hoping that https://next.nexusmods.com/profile/Ash06 (there is a user with this name on loverslab but I don't think they're related) gets back to updating the skins standalone mod as asked in this issue: https://github.com/RCInet/LastEpoch_Mods/issues/30.

Just for my understanding @Vechernyaya, did you put all the files from LE mod enabler (required) (the 3Dmigoto version for Last Epoch) into the Last Epoch folder in addition to the skins standalone mod for it to work (once)?

Posted

Yes, I used all the 3dmigoto files.

When you just change the model without using it, you get the original non nude texture but with wrong uv mapping, then with 3dmigoto, it apply the right texture on the edited mesh. The first time, because after that, the texture error appear, with an error message from 3dmigoto, and without any textures, the character become invisible, only the hairs are visible.

I need to look into what is currently going on. The mod author of the skins mod was on hiatus. The modder trying to keep up the cheat side of the mod said that the skins portion confused them and was not going to touch it. Just as a reminder, certain helmets cause the body to disappear.

Are you going to take a crack at it after the patch on 2025-04-17 has rolled out?

I really hope it will be as awesome a launch as the EHG team hopes for it to be.

I'm actually imploring them from time to time 😅 but I don't want to pester them too much 🙈. I am using the supporter chat here https://www.patreon.com/c/jmedia7/chats and I got a hopeful answer about a month ago or so but nothing since.

I don't even understand what needs to be redone exactly. Apart from the basics of 3Dmigoto I don't understand a lot about the process yet. Does the modeling in e.g. Blender need to be redone?

are you using the season 2 version? It's the files i'm using and it loads fine on the most recent update of the game.

Was dumb, sorry, used the old DAT files. I've found an interesting discovery: replacing "rogue body" won't change the model, but replacing "rogue body GEO" does. Works fine now. Thank you for your effort very much, you are the hero!
