taffster74 Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Have two issues to report ..... First one, just started a new game and recieved a message saying my wicked whims mod (v178b) is out of date and I need to download v187c. That one is a first ...... Second one has been happening for a month now.... keep on getting a "Fatal Error" message saying that I have a duplicate of the wicked whims mod and that wicked whims will not work. Well, yes, i have to "copies" of wicked whims mod in my files - the file (extracted) and the folder. Without the extracted file, the mod doesn't work. So even with both the allegedly duplicate files, wicked whims still works. It's just a little annoying getting that message all the time .... stupid EA programs.
justinlee Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 it scripted that way so you dont have two scripts fighting for the same files and overriding each other you should only need one wickedwhim mod in your folders

Essentially, what i'm doing is unzipping the file, transferring the files across then extracting and moving the extra folder across - that seems to work. Otherwise, as i said - no workies.
SpexSIMS Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 (edited) Humor me: MOVE all of your WW folders in your mod directory onto your desktop so you have a backup. Then extract the new version (187c) to your mod directory. Re-Name your WW directory "1Wicked" so that it loads FIRST when you start your game. It should look like this: C:\users\YourUserName\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\1Wicked If that does not work, move your entire mod folder to your desktop and then try v187c as I instructed earlier by itself. If the problem went away then you need to find and remove the conflicting mod from your Mods folder you moved to your desktop and try again. Windows has a file search built into explorer which should help you make short work of this. . Edited February 24, 2024 by SpexSIMS 50/50 method helps to you find bad mods... google it

Turbodriver hasn't even gotten up to v178c yet.

I should have caught that... nonetheless, the instructions I provided are still valid, did you try them?

Nah, just deleted the v178b i had, then reloaded it .... worked after that. Still have the other one though (duplicate folders) but as I've said for that one, it's not actually affecting game play, so ....
SpexSIMS Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 I shared an example of the folder structure of my MOD directory on this forum. It is never a good idea to have 2 folders containing duplicate files because they will constantly be overriding each other. I have 9 Gigs of mods and it took me a half hour to organize everything. This was time well spent because I was able to find a bunch of duplicates which hindered game performance. I learned this method from other simmers and I am just paying it forward.

I've checked the folders - one is empty, the other has the scripts in it. However - get this - without the empty folder, the mod doesn't work. This has only been happening for about a month now, so whatever the EA brought out for the sims then is doing it. And, as i said, it's not actually affecting the game or mod function so .... it's a weird one.
taffster74 Posted March 3, 2024 Author Posted March 3, 2024 looked into this some more and this is the situation. I do not have two folders - i have the one folder and then the files. Still getting the duplicate message however. Have deleted and reinstalled just with the folder - no work. Obviously with the files and no folder, no work. Files and folder, it works but still getting the duplicate message. It says "fatal" error, but nothing happens if I have my sim have sex. Go figure. Probably something somewhere reading something incorrectly.
