my CP2077 crashes before launching past the prelauncher.

so for starters I used to use vortex for my mod loading purposes for CP2077, but never actually ended up starting the game while that was the case. I have kept hearing that I should be using manual mod installation for CP2077 mods. so now that I'm finally preparing to start a game on it I have move all of my mods from being through vortex to being manually installed. however after installing things such as everydenials NSFW ads, NSFW TV, and NSFW wallpapers, from LL and a variety of mods from nexus such as a reshade preset for use with the installation of reshade I have on CP2077. as well as a bunch of clothes and the ateliers for them, plus a body mod and 4K skin. and the always needed archiveXL, CET, Codeware, cybercmd, equipment-EX, material and texture override, RED4ext, redscript, and tweakXL. I grabbed a bunch of romance related things like romance replays and a few of the deceptious quest core things revolving around judy. I have a physics enabled hair and preem hair which is a hair texture replacer, immersive first person, I had no hard falls in but wasn't sure if it was the issue or not so I tried taking it out, which didn't seem to help. I have a vanilla clothes refit for my body for both the base game and the DLC. and lastly a few photomode things like photomode unlocker and appearance menu mod.

the main issue I'm coming across is that the game won't fully launch with the mods installed, and I'm also not seeing much info in the logs I can find in the various loggers. the weird one that stands out to me is that on the redmod redmodlog that's generated (which I'll attach to this post), 2 attempted launches of the game ago before my most recent one before reaching out for help. it goes through the entire deploy process from stage 1-5, but the last time and this time I tried it didn't. it says [DEPLOY] Stage 1/5 - Initialization, then lists a bunch but not all of my mods, saying their not valid mods missing info.json! skipping, then at the end of the list of those mods it says no mods found, no deployment is needed!

the only thing that changed between when it was running through stages 1-5 just fine and just stage 1 is I realized vortex had left a folder in the main CP2077 folder called mods that was just it's mods it had managed even though I deleted them out of vortex itself. so I deleted that entire folder which is still in my recycle bin in case I need it for some reason. but then it started doing the no mods found thing in the redmodlog.

I had at first wondered if the double mod installs from the leftover vortex folder and all my manual installs were the issue but I don't know if they were or at least if the were the entire issue. any troubleshooting help would be appreciated. I've put off playing this game for so long and now when I'm ready to play it want's to fuck up on me. so I'm anxious to get this fixed.REDmodLog.txt

I have the GOG version of Cyberpunk, but from what I've read elsewhere, the Steam version has even more issues with Vortex and this game. Honestly, Vortex is utter crap with this game. Your easiest option, that will give you the least amount of grief is to purge all instances of Vortex from your computer. Vortex will back up and reinstall items even after you delete them, hence it's complete removal.

Remove Cyberpunk 2077 and install a fresh copy, backing up your saves and make sure the vanilla game works. Install all the necessary tool mods that you'll end up needing. The r6, engine, red4ext, archiveXL, Codeware, cybercmd, equipment-EX, RED4ext, redscript, tweakXL and CET tools won't do anything on their own but will function even without any added mods. Start and make sure the game still works. --- Sometimes saves are dependent on a particular mod, so try using older saves if the latest one won't load.

Install your mods in small blocks, making sure the game works between each install.  Time spent doing front-end maintenance will save you hours of grief later wondering what the hell happened. Use Archive Conflict Checker Tool to find and fix conflicts, though this will only work with archive mods.

If you come to upon something that doesn't work, don't add anything else until you've either fixed or removed the issue. I have well over 400 archive mods running, plus a little under 100 mods that use game engine edits such as r6, CET, red4ext etcetera. For my game, I keep a separate text list of all mods I use and in what order I installed them in, so if I ever do have an issue, I can narrow down the cause of it within a couple of minutes. 99 times out of 100 it's either the latest mod I installed or that the game has updated and made some mods obsolete.

yeah I had been afraid of having to do a full CP2077 reinstall but that seems to have fixed everything, I'm now able to launch into the main menu without and with mods. although that's as far as I've gone besides running a graphics benchmark with some of my mods installed. I kept a separate text list of mods like you do and only had a single crash in my entire setup process. which surprisingly came from an atelier shop mod. so I will no longer be getting those clothes now then it seems. I didn't have any saves to attempt to load as I have yet to even play the game once yet in actual gameplay. but from what I can tell it appears to be working now. and yeah, vortex seems to be shit with most games. I was only using it anymore for Karynn's prison mods but will now be switching to MO2 for that now that I've figured out how. thanks for your help.

Honestly, all installers have issues. Though it's a pain in the ass with some of the more complex mods for games, you'll usually have less problems manually installing all mods. By doing a manual install you'll know exactly what you've installed and what you haven't installed and never have to worry about the installer deciding to enable, disable, reenable, or update something without your knowledge or permission.

As to clothing mods, you have to think about how often you actually change the outfits on your NPC. Seeing as most of them are designed for your character and not the surrounding NPC's, especially with a first-person shooter, you don't really see them very often. A majority of them, you'll usually only use the first time you've installed it and then forget about them, especially when another clothing or armor mod comes along, and they end up just using memory and space for other things that you can see in the game.
