I think he was trying to reply to me on the lustling form page. .... but to answer the question I am looking into byos ... I first had to truly understand how starbound runs the ship stuff.... well at least the simple codes and block placement ... so I made the lustling ship a tier 9 and 10 and verified it worked.

 

byos is ... a different beast, you essentially scrap your entire ship for this build your own ... BBBBUT because I know HOW the ship functions ... there's nothing really stopping me from just allowing you to cut past the blocks and build wherever you like, I just don't know how to tell the game to cut O2 if you cut outside the ship ... and I have no idea how the game will handle custom stuff during upgrades.

 

But I am looking at it.

You lose oxygen when there are no background walls behind you (and in space)
