Making NPCs perform animations ON TOP of a bed

after many attempts i have failed to find a way to get an NPC to perform any animatoin ON TOP of a bed, or for that matter, my own character and them.

is there a way?

if you turn off collision on the bed you sink to the floor, you could place another object inside the bed just underneath the surface, i have done this to make some beds that dont ahve the sleep anmatoin work with ones that do buried in them

but no other way i can think of...

i have never had much luck with the two figure animations where you are supposed to give them a ring to wear and then wear one on your character either, the NPC turns out to keep facing you or oriented the wrong way to your own character and nothing matches.

any ideas on any of this?

I can't be of much help with the bed issue. It's actually a neat trick to place a support platform-type object inside a bed. Reminds me a bit of the technique to make actors 'fly' with an invisible platform underneath them. Maybe making fake beds would work? Turning a bed to a static object by removing the furniture marker in NifSkope, implementing it into a mod in the static objects category instead of furniture. Though it certainly won't work with animations and poses anymore that are specifically created to use a bed.

Never really tried any partner poses with that ring shebang, but the problem with NPCs rotating to face you is always present. Even if the AI is toggled off. This is what Tee once wrote about it:

"Another annoyance are NPC's that are in their pose but keep trying to "face" you. SetRestrained 1/0 will make them stay put."

Haven't tested this console command yet. Normally I click on a character, walk around him/her and once they reach the right spot in their rotation I activate the console and switch them off with the TAI command. Sure, they can always be rotated with the command setangle z <angle degree parameter, eg 180>, but poses that have head tracking enabled will have the head position reset once a character is being manipulated with console commands.

So to use Tee's command, open the console and click on an NPC. Then type the command setrestrained 0 and confirm with the return key. To toggle the restrain option back on use the command again, typing 1 at the end ("setting it to true"). Worth giving a try, in theory it should work.

You changed animations too quickly. Try the update3d console command, or reseting your pose through a pose mod crystal.

At worst, saving and reloading will fix the issue.

Also, that question isn't quite in the right thread... Or the right section...
