Jyratx Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Looking for someone more knowledgeable than me on creating/editing .dds files to help me with this, as I'm looking to customize the fun parts of some various followers. Specifically, ones that don't already have the file in the title of this topic.
traison Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 (edited) Create a copy of the body mesh. Create a copy of the dds file. Change the reference to the dds file in the mesh to point to the copy. (optional) If the follower does not have a custom race: Create a custom race for it. Change the race to point to the copy of the body mesh. (optional) Customize the copy of the dds file as you wish. Edit: There may be more advanced body swapping mods these days. An alternate approach could be to look up a "unique player" mod that does not alter the race records and see how it does it and whether that same idea can be applied to followers. Jyratx Posted January 6, 2024 Author Posted January 6, 2024 Thanks for replying so fast! How do I change the reference in the mesh? What tool/s do I use?

bnub345 Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Making a worn armor entry is much easier and more compatible than a custom race, and a lot of follower mods use WNAM entries already so I would look at that first. 1

As long as that worn armor can't be unequipped or stolen. I always found it hilarious, disturbing and immersion breaking when bandits run away with my hair. That may be the reason why I never use wigs, or equippable "carpets". 1
