Solution to fix the CTD issue while browsing hair/overlays in Racemenu?

Hi,

 

As the title said, this problem is really annoying. I've read some posts in r/skyrimmods but it seems none of them have a decent solution. Only thing I know is that involved some kind of memory issue but how do I fix it? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Hm it's been a while so I'm not entirely sure how things work these days. It used to be called ShowRaceMenu PreCacheKiller 1_3-33526-1-3, but that's obviously for LE. There's a memory leak fix for RM that I have installed, and while it doesn't specifically mention hairs it does mention CTD's caused by RM (or the game) not freeing resources while in RM, which is essentially what the bug is/was about.

 

expired6978 (author of RM) and slavicpotato1 (author of the memory leak fix) specifically mention that the issue is fixed in the AE versions of RM.

 

If you're on AE and its crashing while in RM, post a crash log. Preferably a log from this tool, as trainwreck's logs as far as I know are still a bit lacking.

 

Edit: Test @Tlam99's suggestion below before posting a crash log. I forgot about that headpart thing.
