NPCs dropping dead

I don't understand why or what combinations of mods are causing it but... recently every time I start a SL animation every NPC in the area collapses. I've even tried a fresh start level 1 and start a SL animation with a NPC and all of them in the area drop dead. Has anyone else had this issue or know of a solution?
