Sim treated/labelled as a cheater despite having no steady romantic relationships?

Long story short I made my sim start a sex/drug club and I've noticed that specifically when she flirts (and so on) with someone in front of another sim she flirted, etc with but isn't dating, she's treated as a cheater (given the negative reputation, cheater/sad sentiments on the others end, etc). Is that just a Sims 4 thing in general when it comes to relationships because I think it's truly crazy that someone she's not really romantically involved with now feels like my sim is this deplorable cheater when they were never dating in the first place.
