Fallout 4 VR ! -- Please Let me know what works and What DOES NOT !!

Hello,

I have been fairly successful in configuring a comprehensive build with Fallout 4 + DLC + Sex MOD + Content DLC -- total 231 active + 213 plugins.. And I am still playing the game (lvl 50 so far). I have few glitches as for the male bodies to be way larger and occasional crashes. Overall, the female bodies are great, animations are working, and most of the LoverLabs lab mods appear to be working (still testing the Wasteland framework). All great !!!

I have recently purchased the Meta Quest 3 and I started checking out my library of VR games. I have not played Fallout 4 VR in years, and I wanted to give a try. The vanilla quality and experience appear great. I will try to enhance the vanilla build with more VR mods... and....

back to the LoversLab's mod table... and back to the great LoversLab's community!

Could someone share his/her experience of what mods would work for Fallout 4 VR in 2023!

Many Thanks!!!!!

PS. This guide was really great. https://www.loverslab.com/topic/139374-aaf-the-fucking-manual-~-adult-oriented-setup-guide-12thoctober2023/

Thank you for the people involved in maintain that. It would be great if we could create something of that sort for people looking to integrate Fallout 4 VR.

It's actually quite easy to get FalloutVR working with the mods on this site .. more straightforward than Skyrim .. but the biggest issue is that AAF doesn't work with VR and as a bulk of mods on this site have AAF as a requirement they won't load.

FalloutVR seems less crash resistant than Skryim in this context so if you do happen to have a mod that requires AAF (and you can indeed include AAF in load order) you won't find the game just CTD'ing .. but rather if you look at the MCM you'll see which ones aren't loading.

Thanks for the feedback. My first issue in pursuing this little project is I cannot find a way to make MCM working. From a cursory search on Google it appears there is not a compatibility on MCM with Fallout 4 VR. That  is a showstopper  right there given the amount of customization required to make many mods working, and the absence of MCM is the end.

The  second issue, at it is not even smaller, is some mods would require a keyboard. So, I am not sure about the all feasibility. I was hoping to get at least some animation going. In second order, even if I do not get the animations, as least the "theme" like in selling slaves and so on...

If you guys have any success in running any mods under Fallout 4 Vr, please let me know.

It does exist!, I have it .. although searching on Google it's seems somewhat overly difficult to find... Suggest search for MCM_VR.ZIP .. which is the file .. and you should find a reference to it (worst case, let me know and I'll send it to you).

Then you'd need the usual things (similar to Skyrim)

So either goto Nexus and look for FRIK .. which will telll you pre-reqs

And things like

Fallout 4 Script Extender VR (F4SE)

Fallout4VRTools

Buffout 4 VR

Fall Dialog VR

And then you can load the normal Fallout 4 mods (bodies etc.. ) which work.

Just the fact nothing NSFW is likely to work that uses AAF .. Until the author makes a VR variant ... it's pretty much vanilla questing.

Can't help you on that one as I use controllers .. although there was a mod in Skyrim that provided a workable keyboard through UI Extensions .. so not beyond the capability that one might exist for FO4 .. Don't ever recall using keyboard anyhow in FO4 unless using the console.

Just to add there should be a guide on this site to config .. as there's no way I worked all this out myself!.. I would do a quick search on the forums to see if you can find it.

Thanks. If you can find a link, that would be great.

My experience so far with Fallot 4 VR has been not so great. With my surprise, I can add or remove many mods even mid-game and the game does not care. I have added mod I was using on Fallout 4 and I see not evidence they are working. Just they don't. There are no error messages I can find. At least on other games I can get the error message ("xxx.esp missing") or CTD. I have added followers' mods and they do not appear in the game. I have applied some Fallout 4 patches and they broke the game -- the vault's door remained locked and that was the end of it.

In other cases, I added a variety of NPC mod changes, yet, I don't see evidence those mods are working..... Here the game does not care. So, to find a balance and to verify everything you add does work is a tedious process.

I have finally settled using a build with improved graphic, added few size-DLC mod and various additions.

With all this background, I see very challenging to mod Fallout 4 VR with LoversLab....

I think it was these 2 guides I used (they seem familiar) - I remember now that FalloutVR never bothered providing the DLC (which is pretty much a requirement!) so there are workarounds to have it included.

Well with the lack of AAF support for Fallout4 VR .. with the MCM running you'll actually see a load of the mods saying this exact thing .. I was hoping I could fool the mods into thinking AAF was installed and to at least get them working (minus the animations) but haven't found a solution so far.

Well.. I guess Fallout 4 VR has its merits.. but not in this area...

and I am back to try Skyrim VR.. and that is a fantastic experience.!! Better customization of bodies and the 3D animations are great!! I have just a small glitch when I trigger sex animations  using PHE from a camera view point -- I end watching from under the floor or between walls. Both Flower Girls and SexLab animation with DoM are about perfect. I actually implemented the body collision in VR and it is like squeezing things with my virtual hands.. if you read between the lines...[... add some tools to the slavery theme....] I can bump on NPC and they will react.. pretty amazing how far we went from the vanilla game......

And it's fantastic!, it's very hard to go back to 2D skyrim once you've experienced it in 3D :).. It's a real shame there's no animation framework available for FO4 VR though.

You can technically install AAF in VR, but none of the core functionality works, so any mods from here that use AAF as a dependency won't work, since AAF isn't doing anything. The only adult mod that mostly works in VR is a mod called Sleep Intimate. That one works because it's using the vanilla animation framework to call anims. The downside is that it'll only call a small number of older animations, and the mod uses a third person clone of the player.
