Keeping mod compatible

Im going to make a mod using kreation kit 64, however i'd like to keep my mod compatible with both Skyrim LE and SE. So what should i do, or maybe what should i avoid to keep my mod compatible?
Iknow it's possible, i've seen several examples

Make LE version first. Optimize assets for SE with Cathedral Assets Optimizer. Re-save plugin in Creation Kit SE version.

 

If it has scripts it might be more complex. I haven't made script mods myself yet.

Unless your mod has an SKSE plugin the esp will be compatible with both LE and SE without you having to do anything. SE has some newer texture formats that don't work on LE. Meshes always have to be converted between versions. You can convert animations both ways but SE to LE is a pain in the ass.
