Oofouchie Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 My computer can fuck god and satan at the same time, but when I try to run CK2 and CK3 with a few mods it slows to a crawl in about 200 years. I could be doing other things at the same time and those things run fine but CK just won't. Are there any mods that improve performance in these games?
yoyoman69 Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 (edited) It's mostly due to the lackadaisical attitude to fertility Paradox has in CK3 that leads to a hundred thousand (or more) characters when you play for a few centuries. CK2 has a lot of mods that don't give a crap about character bloat, can't help you there. In CK3 though, there are many things you can do, but the easiest is a combination of Even Smaller World Map (there is also a slightly bigger version from the same author, make sure it comes last in your load order) and a few changes to 00_defines.txt located in common/defines (better make your own mod with that file, but it's fine to edit the game file itself, if you don't know how to mod. Just make a copy of it in the same folder and rename the extension from "txt" to "copy" or something else so the game doesn't read it). Set BASE_FERTILITY to 0.4 (0.5 by default) and NON_RULER_FERTILITY_MULTIPLIER to 0.6 (0.85 by default) RANDOM_CHARACTER_MIN_FERTILITY to 0.3 and RANDOM_CHARACTER_MAX_FERTILITY to 0.4. That would limit character bloat quite heavily. Edited September 20, 2023 by yoyoman69 3
