traison Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Is a tutorial needed? Use Photoshop's DDS plugin, or get Microsoft's equivalent. That's pretty much the only "complicated" bit.
Nightdragon72 Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 i never done it befor so i just asked if there is such a thing befor i ruin Something
traison Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 (edited) If you make backups (which you should do even if you think you know what you're doing) nothing will ever get ruined. Here's a link to Microsoft's tools: https://github.com/microsoft/DirectXTex These days, these tools would be considered difficult and cumbersome to use, since they're terminal/cmd utilities. To me, this just means they can be automated easily, making my job easier. YMMV, I don't know what the licensing model on Photoshop is these days. If there is a free version and whether the DDS plugin is built-in or requires a separate download (and who provides it) and if so, whether it works on the free version or not. I stay away from Photoshop and Adobe tools in general for various reasons, none of which are worth mentioning here - you make your own decisions. Edit: Forgot to mention that most people apparently prefer Paint.NET. It is not a Microsoft utility despite what one might think at first glance, and it may not even be free - however the free version should suffice as long as its licensing model doesn't get in your way.
