lukaslunt Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Hi, I contacted administrator of the forum to ask you a new topic in the forum. The French community is one in which I begin to translate into French and mods that would be nice is to have a dedicated forum. For example: Forum: Translation Sub forum: Oblivion FalloutNV, Fallout 3, Skyrim Sub sub forum: English-French and other translations So we could have a real cooperation between members of the same country I hope you will respond favorably Bye
Ark of Truth Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Google Chrome and Google Translator. It might work if you PMed rather then did a thread, like he asked people to do. You can contact him here. IN MY OWN OPINION I don't really see the point considering about 80% or more of the forum understands and speak English. The edited ESP really should be on the download page for the mod in question as that is the only think to do with language. Having a load of extra thread and sub forums dividing languages is just going to become even more confusing and not to mention messy. Furthermore you couldn't pack the mod in with the new ESP without the modders permission which means you would have to most likely link back to the original mod. Site staff have a hard time as it is policing, for the lack of a better term the forum in the state it is in now. Is it really fair for users like me and you to give them more work to do? Especially Ashal considering most or if not all the server expenses comes out of his pockets. A more practical solution, at least it is to me, would be to contact the author of the original mod and ask to be allowed permission to translate the mod. After all you shouldn't be translating other peoples work without permission. Just mention to the author that when the translation is finished that you will provide them with a copy of the translated ESP which they can place on their mod download page as a optional file as long as they credit you for the translation. Most if not all mod authors will agree to this, but only if you ask them. Right, it most likely wouldn't hurt to have a "translations" thread for each game or something but having multiple subforums and branches would just be to messy and confusing. Besides they most likely wouldn't really get used due to most people being able to understand English on this forum. Not to mention only 2-3 actually translate stuff in this forum. A thread like the "What mod is this one" would most likely work, you could place one in each game's general discussion section. Place the translation requests in the thread and then modders can choose to do the translation after obtaining permission from the mod author. After the translation has been finished it can be placed in the OP with a link taking you to the mod location and the translated file. I will even manage the OPs for these threads to make sure they are update to date etc.
