Guest Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 The new EA app that replaced Origin, is and always has been a steaming pile of poo. However, recently, after it's last update, it got worse. I tried to launch Sims 4 yesterday, whilst offline, and I got this, 'Your license has expired', go online to renew your license, or something similar. So I went online, started Sims 4 and then switched off my internet. I like to play this game offline, it's a nuance of mine! I came out of the game after 2 hours or so and started 'footering' [not an actual word] around on my computer. I decided to go back to Sims 4, lo and behold, 'Your license has expired', go online to renew your license. EA are the definition of 'Corporate Scumbags'. I remember years ago, when John Rotticello was CEO and he defined his 'vision' of the future of EA...always online, always connected. It bothered me then, and now it is becoming reality. I am 'Old School' in terms of gaming, I started gaming when I was 11 years old, I had a Sinclair ZX81 and a manual of games that you had to type in line by line before they would work, it took hours and sometimes it didn't work...the ZX Spectrum was a big improvement. In essence, I have been gaming all my life, not owning what I have paid almost a thousand pounds for...sickens me to the core. To have EA TELL ME that I have to be online to play an offline game is...well, I guess it's modern gaming, and I shouldn't moan...but it's cathartic!!
Guest Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Obviously, playing offline isn't important anymore and I'm just being 'old'. I'm tired and I'm getting old and just a bit silly.
