vinceguldo Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Does anyone have tips on how to reduce the loading time of the game? I haven't played much during the last year but back when I was playing it used to take around 2 minutes from double clicking the icon to landing to the starting menu, with a Mod folder of 25 GB. Now it's 57 GB and it takes around 5 minutes. It's almost all staff from MrRakkon save so I can't trim the Mod folder so I was wondering if there's any trick (apart from better hardware) to reduce the loading time, maybe merging lot of CC together would help? Reducing the subfolders? Singing Electronic Arts backwards?
DuoMaxwell003 Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 You're drive can have a lot to do with it. 3.5 hdd are slow. A 2.5 SSD is slightly faster with read and write times. A M.2 NVME drive is almost twice as fast as a SSD. If you have a Mod manager program you can use it to check for duplicate files and then delete them is can increase load time and help with issues in the game. 1
ungodlytomato Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 if you have some texture mods which are loose i guess packing them into bsas would help 1

Ok, I have the mod folder on my SSD but the game on the HD so it might be an issue. Anyway it seems there is no magic trick apart from having a better hardware

Anyway it seems there is no magic trick apart from having a better hardware Better hardware helps, but honestly, there are no miracles to be had with the loading times. I have the game + Mods (which I have only about 10GB of) on an M.2 drive + have 32GB of fairly fast DDR5 memory, yet first time cold launching TS4 from the EAapp takes about 1 minute to reach the main menu, and another 1 minute to resume a saved game. Subsequent game starts usually take less time, but it still clocks in at about 1m20s from EAapp to a fully loaded save... so taking your situation into account, a loading time of 5mins for a game with a 57GB mod folder using HDD/SSD is not even that bad. ? Crazy Doll Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 (edited) The more you add DLC / Packs / Expansion / Mods / CCs, tje more game needs are hifh (hardware). Game + Mods on a SSD are a minimum if your mod folder is really big. As example got a i5 8go ram + GTX 1650 with 100Gb+ mod folder, on my HDD game takes around 5mins to launch, on my SSD it's something like 1min. And I only have 4 expansions + 3 DLCs. Guest Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 I've also merged mods into one package, depending on the type, and loading the game during startup does go much faster. Only drawback is making sure that recolor/retexture mods have their meshes included as well.
